Selena’s POV Of course. The streetlights were broken again. I kept walking, hand inside my bag, fingers wrapped around the cold plastic of my taser. Ever since what happened to Katarina, I didn’t go anywhere without it. Not even to the corner store. Especially not at night. My boots clicked along the sidewalk. Shadows stretched across the alley to my right. I sped up. Then I heard it. Footsteps. Behind me. Fast. Getting closer. I turned my head. A hooded figure. Running. Right at me. “Hey! Wait!” a voice shouted. “Hell no,” I breathed, bolting into the alley. My heartbeat was in my ears. My throat closed up. I whipped the taser out. Pressed the button. Click. Nothing. The red light blinked but didn’t spark. “s**t” The figure lunged. "Don’t f*****g follow me" I spun around
