Hunter Amy

Change of plans

When Amy was young and met Crescent Falls pack:

There was a knock on the door and Amy shot up from the bed, she got into survival mode straight away and frantically looked around to find out where she was. It took a few moments before she remembered yesterday's events. The light was peering in from the window so she knew it was midday since the room was facing southwest. There was another knock and Amy cautiously walked over to open the door, she peeked out to the hallway and saw alpha Fang standing there. He gave her a short smile before he waved one arm to show her to follow him. Amy walked reluctantly behind him and followed him downstairs to his office, there sat beta Thaddeus from yesterday and four other children. They seemed to be the same age as her and Amy got nervous with them present. She sat down in one of the chairs and waited patiently for one of the adults to speak. 

The alpha sat down behind his desk and started the conversation, his voice was clear and unwavering, “Amy, these are my children Kemper and Lila, the other two children are beta Thaddeus Black’s children, Jonas and Lilly. They are all best friends and hang out all the time, I have instructed them to keep you close so you can acclimate to the pack at a steady pace.”  

Amy looked around the room slowly and took in the faces as she bit her upper lip. She was visibly nervous and uncomfortable, she knew they all were werewolves and probably hated her. 

Amy dared to speak first after looking at them all, seeing that they were not snarling at her or looking at her with hatred, “why are you keeping me here? I thought you wanted to give me a way to humans.” 

Her voice was feeble and she stuttered a few words, the conclusion last night was that Amy would be handed over to child protective services the day after. 

The beta cleared his throat and spoke as unwavering as the alpha did before, “Killen…alpha Killen Fang realized that you probably would be handed over to your parents. And since you are trying to escape them we thought that would not benefit neither you nor us.” 

Amy gave a short nod to the beta, still biting her upper lip. 

One of the older kids started speaking and she thought it was Kemper, alpha Fang’s oldest kid, “dad… I mean alpha Fang thinks it’s better that you grow up in a place where you are safe, and we all agree. I’m not happy to take in a hunter kid, but you are in danger from both hunters and werewolves so it’s best to keep you here.” 

Amy was grateful for Kemper’s honesty, she wanted to thank him but didn’t know what to call him. 

So she stuttered out her question as she was trying to navigate this new reality, “what do I call you ….ehm… Kemper? Or alpha?” 

Alpha Killen smiled and the kids grinned, only beta Thaddeus kept his facial expression blank. 

Kemper spoke softly as he described the procedure, “everyone in the pack calls us by our first name, if you are an alpha or beta they will also say the title first. I’m next in line to be the alpha, but I’m not alpha yet, so just call me Kemper.” 

Amy smiled for the first time and it warmed the alpha’s heart to see the child loosen up, it was clear from the conversation last night that she was a very traumatized child. He had no problems with humans, only hunters, and this little child in front of him was forced to be one. He had made it clear to everyone in the room that she was not a hunter, she was a victim of hunters, so she would be treated as a guest until they could find a good home for her. 

The alpha spoke again with authority and determination, “Lila is fourteen just like you Amy, so you will go to school together. Amy has never gone to school before so it’s your job to make sure she acclimates well.” 

Lila nodded and smiled at Amy, and Amy smiled a nervous smile back. 

Beta Thaddeus looked at his children as he instructed them, “Lilly is a year younger than you Amy, but she can help you with school work as well, she does well in all subjects. Jonas is Kemper’s age and they go to high school. They will not be going to the same building as you so they can’t help you at school, but we decided that they can help you with getting to know the pack when you are not at school.” 

Just then walked in two women and they smiled wide to their mates, both the alpha and beta lit up as they saw them. The taller and blond one went to stand by the alpha and they gave each other a short kiss. The other woman who was shorter and had black hair did the same with the beta. Amy could see where the children got their traits, all four children had the same hair color as their mother. Both the alpha and beta had brown hair, the children had many of the mother’s facial features but the sons had their father's long and large bodies. They were all muscular and very fit, while the females were more petite and slender. Amy felt self-conscious in their presence, she was tall as well but she was lanky and did not have much muscle mass. The women smiled wide to Amy with warmth and it soothed her, she felt a bit more at ease now that the women were there. 

The alpha introduced them, “this is Liza, she is my mate and the luna. This is Lina, beta Thaddeus mate. They will both help you with getting clothes, toiletries, books for school and things like that. Then the children are going to take you around to show the dining hall, the kitchen, the TV room and such.” 

Amy gave a nod, she was biting even more on her upper lip now, getting to be shown around made her very nervous and uneasy. 

The women sensed her hesitation and both walked over to Amy, “come with us Amy, let’s just relax a bit and then get to know each other.” 

They walked out of the office and held the door for Amy to follow, she was grateful that she could follow the women and just be with them for a while, she felt safe with them.
