The announcement and the slowing of the train woke me from the restless haze of sleep. I blinked against the light streaming through the window and realized it was morning. My body felt like it belonged to someone else…heavy, fragile, as though every step required negotiation with gravity. My legs wobbled when I tried to stand, almost collapsing under their own weight.
The city outside the station looked bigger than Eldoria, colder too. Sleek buildings towered overhead, streets were wide and clean, and the air carried a crispness that made me shiver involuntarily.
