Robert’s P.O.V
Brian and Gina, I think that’s her name, Went off into the bathroom. He clearly feels bad for what he did, and so do I. Charlotte was just sat at the top of the bed, As far away from me as she could possibly be.
She was terrified of me.
I tried to move closer to her, but as soon as I did, She climbed off the bed and moved away from me. Backing herself into a corner, by the window.
‘Please, Don’t be scared of me’. She didn’t respond, Instead, She just turned herself and stared out the window, I noticed she was holding her arm close to her. I put my hand out, Trying not to scare her more. ‘Please, Let me see your arm’. She didn’t. ‘I’m a Doctor, Let me have a look’.
Slowly, she turned to look at me, Still scared and unsure on if she should trust me or not. I didn't move, I waited for her to feel comfortable enough to come to me. ‘Please?’ I asked again. I sat down on the bed, SHowing her I was willing to wait for her to make the first move, and it wasn’t long after that she did.
Walking over to me, at a snail-pace, She sat down on the bed next to me.
I really didn’t have any interest in hurting her. I moved ever so slightly closer and took her arm, Making her cry in pain.
I examined it carefully and took a closer look. There was a thick red ring around her skin from the vice, Where it had squeezed her, But it wasn’t broken.
‘Ok, Good news is it's not broken, but it will take a little while for it to heal, You’ll need a sling though’. I told her, standing up and making my way to my chest-of-draws for my first aid kit.
‘Oh, Well, Isn’t that fantastic. Thanks’. She was being snappy and had one hell of an attitude, but I couldn’t blame her I guess.
Sitting back next to her, I bandaged her arm and then put a sling on her, keeping it secure and safe.
‘There you go’.
‘Thanks’.
I sat there next to her for a few minutes, She didn’t speak, but she didn’t move away either, That was a good sign… right?
‘What happened to you that would make you think people deserve to suffer like this and for you to have the right to do the things you do?’ She asked.
‘A bad thing’. This time, it was my turn to be blunt and snappy, though, I didn’t mean to be. These were just personal questions.
‘You’re a doctor, you’re meant to help people!’.
‘I know!’.
‘What bad things happened?’ I looked at her again, She really seemed to care about what I was hiding. Something not many people knew, Apart from my friends of course.
‘You ask a lot of questions, Don’t you?’ I joked, trying to change the subject. She smiled and shrugged.
‘I’m curious!’.
‘Clearly!’. This time, she let out a small giggle, it made me smile.
‘Are you going to kill me?’ Her question caught me off-guard and my smile instantly faded. ‘I’m sorry, I just-’
‘Don’t be sorry’. Why should she be sorry? She was scared, She had a right to know. ‘I’m not going to hurt you, so I’m certainly not going to kill you’. I told her, Seriously.
I studied her face for a moment, She was happy that I wasn’t going to hurt her, that was obvious, there was relief, But there was still pain and fear... And something else, I wasn't quite sure what.
‘What are you looking at?’ She asked, with a small, slightly uncomfortable laugh.
‘You’re quite beautiful’. Her face instantly washed of all emotion. ‘Charlotte?’
‘f**k off!’ She suddenly yelled and moved away from me again, just as her sister came running back into the room, Followed close behind by Brian.
What the f**k was that about?
