KILLIAN
I called last night a mistake.
A flaw on my perfect path.
A stain to the relationship I’d kept with Daniels for years—but this damn mistake kept replaying in my head like a scene on repeat.
I couldn't forget. Couldn't close my eyes without seeing her soft features, or hearing her pants and moans that drives me insane.
Ella was supposed to be off limits—Daniels made me understand that.
But when she begged me to make the ache go away, something deep within me—a feeling I'd refused to admit—snapped.
I ran my fingers through my hair and kicked the walls. This…it shouldn't have happened. It really shouldn't have—
A sharp knock jolted me back to reality.
“Kill, are you in?”
Daniels?
I walked over , then swung my door open. He walked past me, checking around my home like he was searching for something. “I came to get my gloves,” he muttered slowly—but I could see through his lie like a transparent glass.
He rushed up the stairs, returned a few minutes later with some black gloves, then gave me a strange smile. “Why does your house still smell like her, though? It's like she was here…”
And that scent was making it unbearable for me to breathe.
Then he shrugged it off, unsure of even what he was saying. He locked his jaw as he said, “can you believe Jace cheated on her?”
My body froze. “Her mate?”
Daniels nodded, his eyes flickering between its normal shade and golden yellow. “Rejected her, too. The bastard was screwing Serena behind her back. I swear I'll kill him when I see him.”
Explains the pain Ella was talking about last night. The rejection must have been too painful for her to handle.
But I still went ahead and called her a one night stand.
“f**k,” I cursed out loud.
“Yeah, dude. I'm pissed, too.” Daniels raked his fingers through his hair. “I'm going to make sure I bring down hell on Jace for humiliating my sister that way.”
He stepped closer, and this time, it seemed like the line was for me. “And anyone else that comes close to her would have to go through me first.”
I sighed as Daniels walked out the door, his large frame taking all the space of my doorway.
Daniels and I'd come a long way for something like this to come between us.
I'd called it a mistake.
And it'd definitely stay that way.

The hallway bustled with varsity students.
Some girls kept stealing glances at me. They stared at me like some sort of god they couldn't reach, something dangerous that'd burn them immediately they came close.
And they were right with that.
Because as the soon to be Alpha of the Silvermoon pack, I was untouchable.
“Hey, Killan,” Kaida called out, leaning on a brown locker with a dangerous glint in her hazel eyes. She popped a gum bubble, then slowly, her lips tilted into a smile. “When next are you going to call me to come warm your bed, hmm?”
“I don't f**k with the same woman twice.”
Her brows furrowed. “but you told me I'm different…”
“And you believed it?” God, I was sick and tired of dealing with the same s**t on a daily basis. I turned on my heel to walk away, leaving Kaida in a state of shock with her lips slightly parted.
My first class on the list was in a few minutes.
I didn't like getting in late.
Hurrying down the hallway, a familiar voice made me halt.
“I told you I'm f*****g done with you. What else do you not understand, huh? I rejected you, made our relationship clear, and now you're hurt I screwed your best friend?”
Jace.
I turned to my right to witness the scene and anger burned through my veins. Jace had Ella pressed against a locker, his fist a few inches from her face. “What else do you want, huh?” He spat. “So what if I started screwing her the exact night we met? Serena’s hotter, why would I ignore that?”
Ella choked out. “Jace!”
“What?!” He snapped back. “If you stop me anywhere again, Isabella, I swear, I'm going to make sure you—”
He couldn't complete his next statement because my fist collided with the back of his knee. He fell forward, right on Ella, but I grabbed his shirt and slammed him against a brown locker.
Jace groaned in pain. “Kill..Killian?”
I grabbed his throat, my claws elongating. “You really have a death wish, don't you, huh?” I slammed his back on the locker. He winced in pain, trying to resist, but I was too strong for him.
“I….I..did nothing wrong! You have no right to—”
I slammed him on the locker again. “Apologize to her.”
“What?!” He spat, eyes growing wide. “I'd rather die.”
Ella hurried to my side. “Killian, stop. You can't do this in the hallway!”
“You stood there while he talked s**t at you!” I yelled at her, “He's a f*****g piece of s**t, and you still allowed him to humiliate you this way?” I snapped my gaze back to Jace, who looked completely terrified. “Apologize to her. Now.”
“I—” Jace tried to refuse, but he couldn't refuse his own Alpha.
“If you can't obey your soon to be Alpha's orders, how good will you be when you become the Beta of the pack?”
His face turned pale. “No, that's not—”
“You're not worthy of that title.” I released his neck, watching as Jace dropped to his knees. “The title will be moved from your family, I'll make sure of that.”
He grabbed my legs, embarrassment flaming up his cheeks. “You…you can't do this. I'll become the Beta of the pack in a few months. Your own Beta. Everything has been prepared, my family is—”
“If the future Beta of the Silvermoon pack can't care for his own mate, I wonder how he'll treat the pack matters.”
“No, it's completely different.” Jace said quickly, tightening his grip on my legs. “I'll do anything to show how sorry I am, Captain. Please. I've been waiting for this moment since I was a child!”
I glanced at Ella who stared at me like a complete stranger. “Is there anything you want him to do for you?”
