“Mom.”
I watch as my mother starts to head toward the room’s exit and when she reaches, she turns her gaze to mine.
“It’s alright,” she tells me, but for some reason, I don’t think that it is.
“Mom,” I repeat, fear moving through me. “Wait! Mom! Don’t leave me!”
