Chapter 5: Checkmate

AVERY I felt his lips on mine and a rush of electricity passed through me. It wasn't what I expected– a blunt, emotionless kiss. But instead, it meant something. His lips parted and pressed even deeper, I opened my eyes and saw his eyes shut, I did the same savouring his sweet taste and before I could close mine, he pulled away. He stood by my side and smiled as the camera shutters increased, accompanied by cheers and applause from the crowd. I squeezed his hands tightly trying to show him how uncomfortable I was with it, but he ignored me, like I was the best thing that happened to him. As the moment felt real, so was the glare from the girl I met earlier in the office. How could I have forgotten her and why was she here? It didn't matter to me because I had already secured my place in Liam's life, and I was grateful for it. I was never going to give her a chance because I knew how much I wanted it. I tried to pull away, but I felt his warm hands wrap around mine again. I looked up to him, his face filled with joy as he gestured so calmly. I couldn't help but groan at it. It was almost time for the wedding reception and we slowly walked around, meeting other families and esteemed guests. His father, Mr. Richard pulled over to us, his hands crossed against his wife, “Congratulations, once more Liam.” He smiled, “She looks really beautiful in that dress.” I had no choice but to smile and nod in accordance with Liam, “Thank you, Father.” He said, “She's indeed one of a kind.” With the reception coming to an end, Liam held my hands and guided me out of the Hall. My eyes relentlessly searched for Jacob but sadly as I expected, he was absent. I guessed he'd give another flimsy excuse as always. We finally stepped into the comfort of his car, and a part of me loved the new life I walked into while the other always brought fear, like one day, it would all come crashing down. The vehicle began its journey home and I realised we were finally out of the real world, Liam's so-called showcase and drama all vanished, leaving the monster no one knew about. But then a thought flashed through my mind, and I discovered that there was something I wasn't ready for, and I just couldn't take my mind off it. “Mr Slade, I have a question,” I said, my voice low. His gaze was fixated on his tablet and he acted like I wasn't talking to him. “Mr Slade?” I said, placing my hands gently on his thighs. His eyebrows softened, “What are you doing?” “I was trying to get your attention. You were ignoring me.” I muttered, letting out a sigh. “Is it about our wedding night?” He asked. “Yes! I want to know if—” “Forget it!” He snapped, his face impassive. I parted my mouth, and crossed my arms, “It's good you said that because I never wanted to sleep with you.” “Pfft, pathetic!” He scoffed, “You looked desperate a minute ago like you wanted me.” Furrowing my eyebrows, I glared at him, “You do think highly of yourself, Mr Slade.” He smiled and moved in closer to me. “What are you doing?” I said, pulling away from him. He relentlessly continued and my head bumped against the car frame, leaving me stuck in a tight corner with him. What was he trying to do now? I asked myself as I pressed my palm against his chest, pushing him gently and turning my head away. My heart began to race as our breaths connected, “Remember my rule? So just obey it.” He growled. As he said that, I knew I was done for, I realised how hard it was going to be for me if he kept on with this madness. Soon enough, his lips brushed my earlobe and my whole frame vibrated, letting out a soft moan. He came to a halt, his warm breath striking against my neck. “You like it, don't you?” I turned my head sideways in disagreement, regardless of what was at stake. He smirked and continued, “And if you're wondering, I don't, and will never find you attractive.” My heart sank as his words fell hard on me. I had prepared my mind earlier for this but no one could tell how emotionally damaging it could get. Watching as he pulled back, I stayed still, cold sweat racing down my sides. I couldn't even say or do anything. I looked down at my fingers and encouraged myself. ‘You signed up for it, and you're going to live through it till you get what you wanted.’ Sigh! Shortly, we arrived at his mansion and the sight was breathtaking. I was in awe of how stupendous it looked, standing like a paradise on its own. Liam indeed had a special taste for things I admired. >><< LIAM As soon as we arrived, I left Avery behind and walked right into the mansion, I couldn't wait for her admiration to end. I picked up my phone and texted Rachel. We planned to spend the night together and I couldn't forget how she jumped on me when I told her. Back in the mansion, I had informed the maids of Avery's arrival, prepping them with some set of rules and boundaries to put in place, and also a special room for her. I wasn't ready to guide her through her stay or serve as a tour guide. A few hours passed, and night fell upon us. I texted Rachel again and again, and even tried calling her but it was to no avail. Sitting at the edge of my bed, I watch my member throb hard against my pants, as I remember my last experience with Rachel in my office, I was craving more of it. Leaning back on my bed, I heaved a long sigh, then closed my eyes, consecutively, thoughts of Avery flashed through my mind. I remembered the kiss we shared, and the way she reacted to my lips on her ear, it made me feel somewhat excited. I recall Rachel being emotionless with my touches like it meant nothing to her. Sigh! Curiosity got the best of me, and I wanted to find out what Avery was doing, spending our wedding night all alone. She must have thought I'd come and sleep with her. I closed my door gently and walked towards the direction of her room. It was at the far end of the hallway. As I approached her room, my heart raced with fear and uncertainty as I heard a loud and intense moan coming from behind her door. Was she? I thought, placing my ear hard on the door. I heard heavy breathing followed by a masculine voice as if he was screwing her vigorously. With rage in my eyes, I pushed the door wide open and my jaws dropped at the sight of her.
