Chapter 19, Cookies & Kisses
Keith's POV
Iris was doing so well with all the tv shows. Everyone was loving her as my tv girlfriend. And the fact that we were dating in real life. They loved this new change in the playboy Keith they had come to enjoy. Everyone in the articles about me read that I was growing up. They wanted to interview me and Iris as a couple.
I loved the idea. But I was not sure how Iris was going to take the idea. I knew she wanted to keep our real romance private as we could keep things. I could not blame her there. I wanted that to. But we did have to be out in the public eye.
She was going to have to get used to the fact that they would want to know everything about us. I would help coach her if she wanted me to.
I could make sure she did well. I knew how shy my Iris could be. I was admiring a photo of Iris and myself in the new teen magazine. She looked so happy. I looked happy being at her side.
And I was!

"Keith, can I read what they said about our latest tv show?" my sister asks me as she holds her hand out for the magazine.
"Sorry, here" I stammer and blush for being caught admiring my girlfriend's photo.
"She does look beautiful there" says Laurie.
"Who?" I stammer.
"Iris, she looks so pretty. So sure of herself here. Knowing she is so shy you could never tell it" mentions Laurie.
"She can be as shy as a fawn in the forest" mentions Danny.
"That is my girl you are crushing on" I warn him sternly.
"Is thee Keith Partridge in love?" mutters Laurie as she reads a piece on me.
Now I am really blushing.
"He sure is blushing like he is" snickers Danny.
"Shut up" I snap as I toss a couch pillow at his head.
"This is the longest relationship you ever had in your life" says Laurie.
"Yeah, it has" I say with pride.
"It is getting serious then" says Danny.
"Well, yes" I say as I nod and smile. "it is"
"How did Iris get you to settle down?" asks Laurie in wonderment.
"Look at her? I would settle down for a girl like her" says Danny to my sister.
"Danny help me bring in the groceries" calls out Mom suddenly.
Danny rushes out of there. I sigh. I was in love. I wanted to tell Iris. I think she felt the same as I was feeling. But how could I be sure? I did not want to rush her.
Then make a fool out of myself by telling her I loved her if she was not at that place yet. They I might scare her off. Scare her away from me. I did not want to lose iris. So many other guys at school were waiting for their chance with her. They were waiting for me to blow it with her.

"Keith something on your mind?" asks Laurie.
"Has Iris talked about me to you at all?" I wonder.
"We do sometimes. She says how sweet you are and wonderful then I kind of tune her out" laughs Laurie.
"Is that all?" I wonder.
"Why what else did you want her to say?" asks Laurie.
"Have you ever been in love? Real love before?" I ask her.
"I was once. He moved away. We lost touch" mentions Laurie.
"Did he say he loved you first or did you tell him?" I ask her.
"We kind of both knew and he said it first after we kissed. It sort of happened at the right time. You know?" she mentions. "why? Are you in love with Iris?" she asks to know.
"I have not told Iris how I feel about her. So I think I should wait to tell anyone else how I feel about her. That is private" I say as I blush now.
Her eyes grow wide with shock. "You are in love! I am happy for you!" she gushes. She hugs me. "I never thought I would see my brother fall for one girl" she chuckles.
"I do not need Danny hearing you or the others" I hush her.
"I am so excited for you" she rambles on.
"Laurie..." I mutter.
The doorbell rings. Laurie goes to answer it.
"Hey there Iris" says Laurie. Iris comes in with her little sister.
"We baked cookies and brownies for the bake sale. We had extra" says Emily.
"We thought we would bring some over" Iris tells me. I make my way to her side.
"How thoughtful thank you Iris" I say to her.
She nods then smiles at me.
"Iris how sweet of you both. Do you girls want to stay for dinner? Then we can have the cookies for dessert?" offers my mother.
"Sure. Let me go back and ask my mother" says Iris.
Emily stayed there.
I walked her over to her place.

"Did you see the article in the magazine on us?" wonders Iris.
"We were reading it when you came over. Everyone is crazy about you" I point out.
She blushes.
"Thanks Keith" she giggles. "It is fun to be on tv so far"
"Are you doing okay with it? You can stop at any time" I fuss over her.
"Really I am fine" she tells me as she smiles over at me. We make our way to her door. "let me run in and ask. I will be right back" she tells me.
I wait there for her at her door.
Then she soon comes out.
"Mom said she was fine with me having dinner at your place' says Iris.
We walk back over to my house. I reach out to hold her hand in mine. She takes my hand. Our fingers lace together. We stop at my front door. My heart is racing as we look in each other's eyes. I was dying to confess how I felt to her right then. I was in love with her.
"Such a perfect sunny day huh?" she asks me.
Then I swoop in kissing her sweetly on the lips. Her arms go around my neck holding me closer to her body. I hold her close to me.
She returns my kiss as the sun beams down on us. My heart racing faster. We pull apart for a moment. Looking at each other.

"Keith...."she softly says my name.
I love you was ready to escape my lips.
Right then and there....
"Dinner is ready" Danny announces as he opens the door.
I sigh.
I guess now was not the right time.
Not yet.
"Let's eat" I softly tell Iris.
She nods then I lead her into the house. There would be a perfect time. And I would tell her just how my heart felt about her. I was in love with Iris.
