Chapter 15

Chapter 15, Drive Ins! Keith's POV I had something special planned for this date this weekend. We could go to a drive-in movie. There we could chat in quiet and enjoy the movie to. I wondered if Iris had ever been to a drive-in movie. I had been there lots of times. But I was not going to put any pressure on her. That was what most guys had planned when they planned to go there. But it seemed like we never had a private place to talk. Not at home. Or school. Out in public. So, this was our best bet. Then we could talk more about upcoming prom. If she felt she could not go to a drive in we would do something else. I did not want her to feel pressured. I could not believe we were going steady now. And we had been dating nearly two weeks now. Maybe I should get her something more special then poems. Songs. Candy. You know step my game up. I did have to make sure that I did not over spend. I had a prom to save up for after all. I sigh. I was looking over some ads. I had to get ready for my date soon. ♡♪♬♪♡ "Hey what do you have planned with Iris tonight?" wonders Laurie curiously. "Drive in movie" I tell her. She makes a face. "A little soon for that?" she adds. "dont you think?" "Yes, but there is no private place to talk. I want to just talk" I add. "Sure, all guys love to talk" laughs Laurie as she rolls her eyes. "I am being serious. You guys are always around. In public the girls chase me. We don't have privacy most of the time we go out" I explain. "I want some alone time with her" "Well, this is a side of you I never saw before" she says. "I like it" "I need to go to the store. My date is going to happen soon. I will be back" I tell her. "Why do you need to go to the store? Run out of cologne? Or break your favorite brush?" she jokes. "Laurie" I sigh. I shake my head. "If you must know we have been going out for about two weeks now. I want to do something special for her. More than just poems and candy" I add. "You are serious about her" says Laurie. "I never saw you like this" "I am. Now what can I get her? I can't spend too much because prom is coming" I tell her. "but something to let her know I care" "Cards are good. And perfume. White Shoulders. Or maybe a necklace" she adds. "I can't believe my senior prom is next year. And I go this year to my junior prom. I have a date with my date tonight to get to know him. Girls love gifts like that by the way. Make sure it is a mushy card" she rambles on. "Thanks, got it" I say as I rush out the door. I grab my car keys. Then head into town. I wander around the d**g store there. I get a mushy love card for her. Then I am in perfume. A little pricy. I get a bottle that Laurie said. It was not to bad. I notice something. Heart lockets. Gold ones. She could put our picture in them to go with the ring. Perfect price to. Not to bad. ♡♪♬♪♡ "Keith?" My sister was with my little brother and Iris little sister Emily. I had jumped. "Hey kids. Need a ride home?" I ask them. "No, we rode into town on bikes. We are having a malt" says Emily. "getting ready for your date?" she asks me. I nod. "Yes" I say. "She will be happy to see you" brags Emily. I grin. "I will be happy to see her to" I promise her. "Want to join us for a malt?" asks my brother. "Sorry I have to run. Another time" I tell the kids. "bye guys" I rush out of there once I pay for it all. Then head home. I hop in the shower. Change clothing. I sign the card with a person message for Iris to read. I make sure to wrap the gifts in some of moms valentine paper she had in her closet. I am ready for our big date out. I check my image in the mirror one more time. I smile. I was ready. My heart skips a happy beat. I was going to give her the gifts alone in the car. Away from spying eyes. So, it would be special for the both of us. I head down the stairs. Mom looks up. She was sitting with Danny and Reuben on the couch. Reading the paper. ♡♪♬♪♡ "You look handsome. Have fun on your date" says my mom. "Thanks, I plan on it" I say. "If everything does not work out let Iris know she has a back up date" smirks' Danny. "Danny" scolds my mom. "He doesn't bother me. Bye guys" I say. I hide the gifts in my car. Then walk over to get Iris. I ring the doorbell. "Hi Keith" she greets me warmly. I kiss her cheek. She was wearing a pretty pink top with roses on it. And blue jean pants. She always looked good though. "Ready to go?" I ask. She nods. "Hi Keith" her mom greets me. "Hello Mrs. Steele" I greet her. She smiles. "Let's go Keith" says Iris. We head out to my car. "Is the drive in movie okay?" I ask her. "Sure" she says as she looks nervous. "Are you sure?" I ask. "I never been to one without mom and my sister" she nervously laughs. "Oh, nothing like that. I want us to be alone" I say. "we never have private moments to talk. With your moms light. Your sister or my family" I laugh. "or the fan girls" "Right, you are so smart" she brags on me. We head to the movie. They were playing The Bride Of Frankenstein. And I find a perfect spot. I pay but have her get us snack so fan girls did not spot me there they would mob my car. I would be spending my night flocked by girls. And not Iris. The one girl I planned to spend my whole night with. ♡♪♬♪♡ "I have saw this movie" adds Iris. "I love scary movies but they make me jump" she giggles. We share popcorn. "I love them to. And westerns" I say. She smiles. "What did you want to talk about?" she wonders. I reach over my glove compartment box. Getting the gifts out. She looks surprised. "What is all this?" she asks. "Open it" I tell her. "Keith! Wow my favorite perfume" she exclaims joyfully. She opens her card. She is reading the message. "Happy two weeks to you to! You remembered" she says as she hugs me tightly. "that means so much to me" "Last but not least, this" I tell her. I hand her the necklace. "Wow Keith" she gushes. She looks teary eyed. "Open it go on" I softly say. She rips it open. She gasps when she sees the necklace. "I know it is cheesy. But I am saving for prom night. I wanted to get you something to celebrate" I explain to her. She hugs me tightly. I hug her back. Then she pulls back. "Put it on me" she orders. I place it around her neck. "I will have to put your picture in it" she adds. I nod. "We could of our prom photo" I say. She grins. She looks so happy. I loved making her smile like that. She leans in kissing me. "You are the best boyfriend a girl could ever ask for. I mean that" she softly tells me. "I did not get you anything I was worried it would scare you off or something" she chuckles. "No" I say. "I would have loved anything from you" "Keith I can't wait for prom night" she tells me. "Same here" I say. ♡♪♬♪♡ She kisses me. I hold her closer trying not to spill any food on her. I notice she was wearing my ring. I was proud of that. I hold her closer. I had take things slow. I did not want to scare her off. I wanted to go faster. But she was worth the wait. I normally did move faster. And I always lost the girl after for pushing things. I was not going to with her. "Keith this has been the best night with you. Every night is" she softly says. She touches my cheek. I notice the movie was over. "I better get you home." I say. The windows were all fogged up. I roll down a window. Then we get ready to head home. She looked happy. So, this date was another success. Next was prom. Could I top it off? I had a lot to plan this next week. All just for Iris. I wanted to win her heart. She had already won mine. ♡♪♬♪♡♪♬♪♡♪♬♪♡♪♬♪♡
