Chilly air poured from the air conditioning vents in their hospital room, the rattle of its noisy mechanics ending the awkward silence that lingered among all three inhabitants. Sarah rested in the bed, the covers pulled above her head, ignoring the doctor"s questions. Teddy sat across the room in an uncomfortable chair containing a hole separating the pleather fabric from the scratched and splintered wooden frame. He picked at the tiny void until his index finger penetrated enough of the weakened surface and clawed at the yellow foam layer underneath.
