“Are you sure the study won"t be more private, ma"am?” queried Pilar, pausing to let Olivia consider the suggestion.
“No. Follow my instructions, exactly as I indicated. Bring the guest to the living room,” demanded Olivia as she walked into the hallway with the maid. As Pilar hesitantly stepped toward the back of the house, the front doorbell rang. She glanced toward Olivia, who shrugged. “I thought you said our guest was at the back door?”
