Chapter 16: A Visit and a Close Call Somehow, I just knew that a phone call would not be enough for my mother. Penny tried, unsuccessfully, to calm Mom down and assure her that I would be sufficiently punished. But my dear sweet Baptist mother ultimately felt compelled to punish me in person.
