At that point I found myself grinning from ear to ear. No, sir, it’s not over yet! I thought. The loyal, unconquerable kids won’t let you down. They didn’t back then, and they won’t even here. I turned on my side and fell asleep, and so my adventure came to an end.
That one had come to an end, but others were just beginning, because our peaceful little house suddenly started bustling. Before, it was different: I would have breakfast with Kornei, chatter about twenty minutes, and then I would be alone until dinner. If I wanted to, I could sleep, or read books, or listen to voices. And then it changed. I don’t know whether someone stirred up this snake pit of theirs or some sort of truce was over, but suddenly our little house got very crowded.
