Later that night, as Adam moseyed to the kitchen to find out about dinner, Levi stormed past him. A quick check of the living made him stop in his tracks. There was Zoe, head hanging down like someone kicked him. “You okay, man?” “I was about to head out.” That dejected look was wiped from his face between one blink and the next. “Levi has work he wants to get done, and I’d hate to be underfoot.” Adam opened his mouth to say something, no idea what, when his mate pressed his big body into his back.
