Christina went to school like she always did, content to let Tiffany spread the rumors that she was lying about her Wolf, everyone agreeing that even if she did it was so weak that no one would ever be able to take her seriously. That however only steeled her resolve to get stronger physically, so that they would learn to leave her alone.
'Why is it no one can sense you?' she finally asked Snow during their second class of the day after the dreadful dinner.
'For now I must. I assume you don't want these foolish backwards Wolves to know exactly how powerful I am. If they did know, they would be worshipping the ground you walk on.' Snow replied.
'Why?' Christina asked confused.
Snow sighed as she projected her image into Christina's mind. She was pure white with the power of the moon seeming to glow from within her. 'Because you are a Chimera. Not just that, but because each of your parts has a claim to the Royal Line of each part that makes you who you are, who we will become once all of us are here. Even without the Witch fully present, you are already becoming quite the powerful sorceress. If you begin training your body, your strength will only grow. Not just physically, but magically as well.' Snow told her seriously before fading back again as the bell signaling lunch rang.
She met Jackson in the lunch line, grabbing as much fold as she could easily hide in her bag, as she planned on going to her space as soon as she got home.
"Dad wants to see us in his office." Jackson said to her with a smile as they went to a table and she quickly hid everything she intended to take home in her bag. "Why are you stocking up so much?" he asked quietly.
"How rare is it for someone to be able to use temporal power only by feel?" she asked him.
"Extremely, right now there are only three temporal Witches, all of our abilities with the spells unique. I can slow time, another can speed it up, and the third can stop it altogether for short periods." he told her as they walked through the halls to the staff offices.
Christina listened to what he was saying, surprised that there were actually so few of them. "So another question, has anyone been able to ever mimic a temporal ability if they have been exposed to it?" she asked making him laugh.
"They are called exactly that and are even rarer than Temporal Witches." he said as she looked at him.
"Well than you need to come over today, because I think I may have mimicked your ability when I created my space at home." she told him which made him stop laughing.
"Your serious?" he said stopping and making her look at him.
"Deadly. I read the three books about the Witch Trials as well as 2 spell books as well as practicing some of the easier spells last night." Christina said making him move again so they could get this over with.
"If this is true we have to keep it from everyone until you are strong enough to protect yourself. Mimick's are targeted if they know you exist, as your blood can be used for some extremely powerful magic. Don't even tell my father what you suspect." Jackson said as they got to his office door and entered the room.
After school Jackson walked home with her, unaware she had returned the three spell books she had checked out the day before and checked out nearly every one the school had about every subject imaginable. She had already learned to make copies of an item, so she had copied each of the spell books ex as carly as they were, and returned the copy to the school. The originals were still in her space, which she was taking him to at that moment.
Fortunately when they got to her house no one was home to see them go up to her room and lock the door as soon as they did. Jackson immediately went to the mirror, shocked at what he was sensing from it as it was definitely temporal energy emanating from it.
"How in the world, it feels like I cast it myself. Except that this field is stronger than anything I have managed to make myself. Have you tried using the Temporal Energy in any other ways?" he asked as he tried to open it and it zapped him with a small but strong electrical shock that made him retract his hand. "Should have known you would use a blood lock on that." he said shaking his head as even he couldn't create one yet.
"I didn't even intend to use the Temporal Energy on this, I just thought about the way yours felt when I created it." she explained as she walked over to him and knew what she had to do in order for him to be able to access it.
As soon as they entered he whistled as he saw what exactly she had created. "This is impressive." he said looking at the different sections she made.
"It is a work in progress as I learn about magic." she replied setting the new books down on the table she had created just the day before. The others were on a bookshelf that he was looking at.
"Are these the spell books you read?" he asked her as he opened the first one.
"Two of them, still working on the third." she told him as she walked over and he shook his head not believing what he was seeing as he looked around. The scar Mark's on the one wall telling him she was already practicing some battle magic.
"You know some of the spells in these books are fairly advanced? You may not be able to cast them yet." he said as he moved over to a sofa she had made and was amazed at how comfortable it was.
"I figured that out myself thanks." Christina said sarcastically as she sat across from him. "So, what do you think?" she asked as he pulled a book out of his bag.
"I think it is time we practice some magic, so you can learn to protect yourself as quickly as possible. Most mimicks are discovered young and almost always captured and enslaved because of the power their blood can provide. If you are indeed a mimick, it is lucky you met me. The Temporal Ability to reduce the flow of time means you should be able to learn how to do it even outside of the space." he said as she sat next to him and they began practicing the spells inside of the book.
Jackson was amazed at her ability to learn knew spells just by simply reading the description and than speaking the incantation. What was even mo re e impressive however, was that the power of the spells she was casting and what he was able to do were vastly different. He had taught her to cast a fireball, and used the wall she said was for her practice area.
His had left a scorch mark that was 6 inches in diameter after it exploded against it. Hers however was 2 feet in diameter, and was the first time her space had vibrated as if it were reacting to the whole thing.
"I might need to make a super strong training area." she said as he looked at her and began shaking his head.
"It might be a good idea if you are going to use all of your strength at once. Normally most of us limit how much power we put into our spells." Jackson said making her smile.
"No, that wasn't focusing my power." she said as she had already learned about this in the book she had read yesterday. Jackson saw her eyes turn Emerald Green as her hair turned Amber red, looking like a fire as she began the same incantation for the fireball again. The power of her voice was magnified several times as she said the spell, and shot it at the same spot she had the first time. As soon as it struck they were both thrown out of the created space, along with all of the books that she had.
"Definitely need a stronger area for you to practice." Jackson said as he looked at her again and she was back to normal. She started laughing as she looked at the disaster her room was and sighed.
The mirror had shattered when she closed the clasp on the hidden compartment it was, as well as the power scattering almost everything that had been on her dresser and floor. She began another incantation and began returning everything to how it was, like she hadn't just used enough power to destroy a magically created pocket realm that each Witch could make.
"Christina, just how much power do you have?" he asked as she looked at him.
"Those two spell books that I read, I didn't just read them. I mastered the spells inside of them as well, one by one. Not sure how long I was inside exactly, but that was when I figured out that it had somehow copied yours." Christina said as she held up her hand so he could see the static discharge of gathering electrical energy from the environment spark between her fingers.
Jackson swallowed as she let the energy fade, and looked at the mirror again as she opened the door to it. "You think this is a good idea again? Shouldn't you find somewhere a little more sturdy to create a space for you to practice in?" he asked her as she smiled.
"Last time I was just learning how to do it. This time I am going to put more power into the spell, as well as making an enhanced area for spell practice." she said as her eyes turned green again and her hair began rising around her to make it look like it was on fire as she put real power from her Witch form into the spell that would create her magical pocket of reality.
As soon as she finished her eyes returned to normal and her hair quit floating, he shook his head. "It is terrifying you can do that already. I have been practicing for years and can't do it yet." he said as she looked at him.
"Have you read this one yet?" she asked him handing him the first book she had read.
He took it from her and smiled. "No, I haven't. But I definitely will when we go back inside." he said as he could tell that the temporal energy from this field was even stronger than the one she had made before.
Jackson read the book she had given him, as she studied one of the ones she had checked out of the library about the different Temporal Powers other Witches had. Some of them had even provided detailed descriptions of how their powers worked, giving Christina an idea as she began thinking of how it would work.
She used the knowledge they had passed on, and was able to duplicate the powers they gave details on how it worked. More of them had done it than was believed, but almost no one else was able to do what she had done which was essentially create a spell. In fact the copy of her book she had made from the one she checked out, it created a magical incantation for her to recite in order to use the power that they had used. She shook her head as she saw it on her copy, because she actually had to read the book for the spell to work. Each time she read about another power, she realized she was also learning what the magical language really was as she grabbed language translations from another book she had found and began translating some of them into english. She however also decided not to tell Jackson this just yet, because she wanted to test them outside of her newly created magical space.
