Christina made it back to the school 2 hours before classes started, surprised Jackson was already waiting for her there.
"You sure know how to cause a ruckus. The Wolves have been looking for you all night." he said as she chuckled and sat down.
"Yeah well, I have a feeling they aren't the only ones." she said a little out of breath as he lead her into the nearby trees.
"Oh I know they aren't. I kinda wondered if you would be back in time when the report from the Supernatural Pack came out." he said as she looked at him curious.
"What do you mean?" she asked as he pulled out his phone and showed her the report.
It said that the Prince was tracing the scent of a Wolf able to move at such a fast speed there is no description of it. Apparently 42 Packs across a 1800 mile trail had reported the strange scent that went on for miles in both directions, just to be lost in the storm that she had gone through 50 miles away from home. It however stretched for 300 miles she saw on the radar, glad that there were no Packs that had reported her within a few hundred miles.
"Apparently you had quite the bit of energy last night, 2,000 miles each way in 14 hours. That has to be a record." he said with a sly smile as she laughed nervously.
'Well we did need to run.' Snow said a little sheepishly.
'Not 4,000 miles overnight.' Christina replied as they walked into a small grove in the trees and he made her kneel in a prepared circle.
It didn't take long for him to get the fire going, and prepare the ritual to see if she was even able to use magic.
"I just need a few drops of blood on this." he said handing her a needle that she used to prick her finger deeply so that blood ran down it for a second before he took it and threw it into the flames.
As soon as it made contact with the enchanted fire the needle exploded in power, making the flames shoot 15 feet in the air for several seconds before it burnt itself out quickly.
"So what does that mean?" she asked as Jackson turned and looked at her in shock.
"That you have the strongest magical power I have even heard of. Not even the High Priestess of the Covens has that much raw power, her flame is only 5 feet." he said as he had seen it himself when he went to the Council with his father.
"So, will you train me?" she asked with a smile as he began shaking himself and muttering under his breath as he began pacing.
Suddenly he stopped and looked at her with a smile. "I think I know someone better." he said as he grabbed her hand and ran to the school.
"Who are we talking too?" she asked as he ran through the staff door leading to his fathers office.
"My dad, you have too much power for me to do it safely." Jackson said as they came to a stop and opened the door to his dad's office.
"What is it Jack, Christina?" he asked as he generally used this time to grade papers.
"You remember how I said a friend wanted me to test if she had powers and had asked for training?" Jackson asked as Christina smacked his arm as hard as she could.
"Yes, what about it." Mr. Malone said looking between the two of them.
"Christina is the one who asked and I think it would be better for everyone if you trained her." Jackson said as he rubbed his arm that was totally numb.
Emory Malone looked at her curious as his eyes turned green. He looked at her for several seconds before they returned to their normal brown color and he shook his head. "She has almost no power." he said sure of his assessment.
"Do you sense her Wolf?" Jackson asked him.
"No, she doesn't have a Wolf yet." he answered also sure from the look he had taken as she growled at him.
"Mr. Malone, I assure you I do have a Wolf." Christina said as Jackson smiled.
"Remember the reports of a mysterious Wolf that left a trail from the mountains to the Capitol, only lost because of a storm?" he asked as Emory nodded and looked at his son who was pointing back to Christina like he was introducing them. "I clocked her on the track yesterday at 4 seconds for a lap, 27 second overall for 3 laps." he told his father who looked at her and pulled out a needle.
He quickly jabbed it into Crystal's finger drawing just the smallest amount of blood possible before he began chanting over it.
"Careful dad." Jackson said as Emory leaned back just before he finished the incantation and saw the blood explode in the largest flame he had ever seen from such a small sample.
Emory looked at Crystal again, his eyes glowing bright green as he looked at her carefully again. "I still sense no magic, and no Wolf, but know that atleast the one isn't true based on that result. Yes Crystal, we will teach you to use magic. Hopefully with no one figuring it out before you graduate. Your Pack Elders are not exactly welcoming of hybrids." he said as his eyes dimmed again.
Crystal snorted as she knew that all too well, as she had known a few to be thrown out when they accepted Mates of a different species. "I am well aware of that much, which is why I won't be staying a moment longer than necessary." she told the Witch Priest who nodded.
"Than we have 2 years to teach you the basics that most learn over the course of 6. It will take hard work and dedication, but I think you can do it if motivated sufficiently. Jackson will of course be your pupil, make sure however if you practice together you cannot be seen." Emory said while he grabbed a book and handed it to her. "As for what you will learn, the sooner you read this the faster you will know your first lessons."
Christina took the book from him and left the office with Jackson as she looked at the clock and sighed. There was only another hour until classes started as Jack grabbed her hand and took off running to his locker. "Where are you taking me?" she asked as he went through the nearly empty halls.
"My locker." he said as she sighed again.
"Why are we going there?" she asked still allowing him to drag her along despite how much she didn't want to.
"You want to practice don't you?" he asked as she perked up as they went around the last corner before he stopped at his full size locker that he had used for 3 years now. Most of the Witches had them in one of the corridors throughout the school.
"Of course." she said as he opened it while casting a spell that created a chamber based on the person who made the space.
"One thing my dad doesn't know yet is that I am what they call a Temporal Witch, so the time in my space goes at about a thousand times slower than normal time." Jackson said as he lo pulled her in and the locker door slammed closed behind them.
"What is a Temporal Witch?" she asked as she looked around and was amazed at what she was seeing.
"Each one is unique, but has some ability to effect time. In my training space," he said making a point to indicate the area around them. "I can control the flow of time, and right now we are experiencing time at a speed of 1000:1. So for one hour outside, we have 1000 hours in here for you to practice those spells." he said as he decided a hands on approach would probably work better for her than reading the book.
A few minutes later both of them crashed out of the locker, having spent the equivalent of a few days in the space while she had amazingly mastered all of the spells in the book. By the time she actually opened it she realized that she would be able to learn them alot faster. Just like her Wolf Powers, the magic of her Witch side seemed to be nearly limitless. The only reason they had come out was that they both needed to eat because neither of them had taken any food with them.
After breakfast however classes began, Jackson telling her she would have to find somewhere she could cast the spells to make her own secure training space. Despite complaining that unlike his, hers wouldn't have the time dilatation effect that his did as he smiled.
Christina plowed through her classes, surprised that her English class was demanding a paper on the Witch Trials of the past. It however was an opportunity for her to go to the library, where she knew there were several spell books of common spells to any witch who wished to pursue them. She grabbed several different ones along with multiple books on the actual history, and checked them all out before slipping them into her bag.
At the end of school she ran home, her parents surprised to see her as she hadn't been home the night before.
"Where were you yesterday?" her mother demanded angrily.
Christina sighed as she could hear them both sniffing to see if they could sense her Wolf. "I went for a run and lost track of the time. Before I realized what time it was, I barely made it in time for school." she said somewhat honestly.
"Just how far did you go? The patrol said they lost your scent in the storm 20 miles out." Jason asked curious as she chuckled.
"You wouldn't believe me if I told you, I have a lot of homework to do. Can I go?" she asked having already planned where she was going to hide her space.
"Go, we have dinner at the Pack House with the Alpha family. I know you have trained hard to be the Gamma, but it is clear that your brother inherited the Gamma Power from your mother and I." Monica told her bluntly as Christina smiled.
"Mom, it is okay. Christopher is clearly the Heir to the position, no challenge from me about it." she said kissing her mom on the cheek.
"Make sure you shower before dinner, you stink." Monica said as Christins went up the stairs to her room while her parents began talking.
As soon as she got to her room she closed and locked the door as she opened her bag and took the books out of it, making two different stacks of almost equal size. The spell books were what she was afraid of as she looked at the mirror and used her hand to make it turn outwards. It was a project she had made herself, that had a small secret compartment behind it, which made it the perfect place to lock her new space into.
Remembering how it felt when she went into Jacksons that morning she cast the spell, glad to see the shimmer take effect that let her know the spell was creating the space she saw in her imagination. When she entered it was the perfect place for her to relax and practice her magic, the two different areas perfectly shown in the layout of the huge space. She set the spell books down knowing that they would have to wait until after dinner with the Alpha, she didn't spend very long inside before she closed it and created a blood seal on the lock. With it, she knew only she would be able to open it, as she had chosen one that excluded family from being able to open it. It had to be her, or her blood.
