He actually found himself talking to the marketing and promotions guys about their jobs when he was waiting around a venue, and it made him even surer that his life at UD was the right track.
The ring Vanessa helped him pick out was an anchor in his pocket. It felt like the hopeful part of him was being strangled by the nerve-wracking fear that she"d say no. She can"t say no, he thought, breathing slowly.
