Chapter 17

Ryker's point of view

As we were running, it felt amazing. I had my best friend running beside, my parents and her family right behind me. The rest of the pack was behind them. We came into a small clearing with a beautiful waterfall. As we were running beside it I looked over at Lily. She was a sight, the glow from the watering hole lighting her up as she ran beside of it. I got caught in her beautiful bright blue eyes.

As we were about to pass the watering hole I noticed her eyes started to glow and there was some silver starting to appear on her neck. I didn't know what to do and my wolf just took control and ran Lily into the water. My parents stopped and so did Damon and Lilys aunt. "what happened Ryker?" My father linked me. I told him what I saw and he went behind a tree to shift. As he was shifting he told the pack to continue and we will catch up. "Ryker saw Lily's eyes glow and some silver start to appear on her neck, so his wolf took over and pushed her into the water." My father told Jane.

"Um hey guys, I think we have a bigger problem here." Lily said as she was sitting in the water. I look down and all of a sudden a beautiful light baby blue flipper came out of the water. "What is that," is all that came out of my link.

With a chuckle coming from the side of me, Jane says with a laugh. "My dear you have gotten your mermaid ability. Oh I am so happy, I was hoping you would get this one." I look back at Lily, she is so beautiful with her beautiful silver blue eyes, and her wet hair falling down her face. She looks up at me and smiles. "Hey Ry this is your run, maybe you should finish the run with your pack." I just shook my smokey grey wolf head no.

With a smile and in a sweet voice, she reaches her wet hand up to my face and puts her palm on my cheek. I find myself leaning into her touch, I then looked at her and she had s small smile on her face. "Go i'll be fine, u need to put your pack first. We don't want them to think anything, and if you stay here they will think something." I knew she was right but I just didn't want to leave. I turn my head and look at my father, and he shook his head.

Without thinking I lean down and put my forehead on Lily's. After a few seconds I turn around and my parents and I take back off running while Jane and Damon stay behind with Lily. I really didn't want to leave but I knew she was right. The farther I got the harder it was, but I did my duties as the future alpha and finished my run.

Lily's (Mahila) point of view

After Ryker finally left, I didn't want him to go but I knew he had to. I look at Auntie Jane and Damon. "What do I do, this is not the time to be in this position, what if the pack comes back and sees me?" My auntie Jane has a smile on her face, "Make a portal to the cabin pool. As a mermaid you have even more magic abilities. Mermaids have the abilities to open portal's to other underwater locations that you have visited. Just think about where you want to go and put your hands out and open the portal."

I take in what she said and I think about the pool in the cabin. As I am thinking about the nice clear, cool water with lights on the side of the ice blue walls. I open my hands that are glowing a bright blue and then a white swirl appeared in the waterhole. I looked up at auntie Jane with a big smile on my face. "I did it," I said with joy in my voice. She had pride in her eyes when she said, "Well go and we will meet you there."

As I got to the cabin pool, They were not there yet. I just felt the urge to swim under water and jump up out of the water like a dolphin. As I landed I actually giggled at how fun that was and how much I enjoyed it. I got to thinking about something and I then go under water and hesitantly I take a breath in. OMG I actually am breathing under the water, this is so cool. I am just swimming and having fun under the water, I think I was under the water for about 10 mins. I happen to look up and saw my auntie and Damon looking down in the pool at me with huge smiles on their faces. "Lily, can you hear me? If you can then come up here and lets talk."

So I swam up to the surface of the pool and popped my head out. "Wow aunt Jane, this is so cool. I always loved the water and now I can actually breath under it. I also heard you loud and clear under the water, how is that possible?" I had to have a confused look on my face at this. My auntie kneels down to the pool, her big pregnant belly and all. Damon actually helps her down and keeps his hand on her shoulder the whole time.

Looking at me with a smile on my face auntie Jane puts her hand on my wet cheek and says, "Mermaids have many abilities that you will have to learn to use and master. I have faith in you that you will get them down in no time." I smile thinking of all the new things i'll be able to do. "Ok so how do I get my legs back, I can't stay like this forever." With a small knowing smile she says, "All you have to do is think about your legs, about being a human and walking."

I thought about my legs and about being human and then there was a faint blue gow in the water and then my legs and cloths appeared. I get out of the pool with the help of Damon and start to dry off when I feel my mind tingling. Someone is trying to talk to me so I open up my link. "Lily are you ok, the run is done where are you?" I hear Ryker with a faint worry in his voice. "I'm at the cabin and yes i'm ok." "Stay there i'll be there in a few mins." I smile at the thought that he was on his way, and it didn't go unnoticed by my auntie.

"Whats that smile for, is Ryker on his way?" She said with her own smile, I could feel my cheeks heat up. "Yes, how did you know it was him?" with a slight chuckle she says "I saw the smile on your face, and he is the only one whom can put that smile on your face." She then put her warm hand on my wet cool shoulder, looking me in the eyes with a semi serious face. "I know you don't find your mate until your at least 16, but I really think you two are mates. I see it on both of your faces and in your eyes when you look at each other."

Hearing those words made my stomach flutter, but me being hard headed and all I try an deny it. "He is my best friend aunt Jane, that's all it is." As I was saying that Ryker rushes through the sliding glass door of the cabin and walks over to me swooping me in his arms with a big hug. "I'm sorry I had to leave you back there but I am here now." There goes the butterflies again, but now it feels like a swarm has taken over. He pulls back and smiles at me, my cheeks flush again.

"Ryker can I meet you back at the pack house in a few, I need to talk to my aunt and Damon for a few mins. I can see the hurt in his eyes but quickly covers it up, "Yea I'll be in my room, find me when you get back." He turns to walk back but stops and turns around and says, "by the way you are a very pretty mermaid." He turns and continues to go back to the portal to the cabin. I felt my cheeks are now super warm so I now they are red.

Turning to auntie and Damon I tell them, "I think we need to leave the pack."
