The Abused Lycan and Her Mates

Chapter 5

Cameron POV

When I first smelled the hint of vanilla, I knew that was my mate. She was close by but never in my wildest dreams would Gabe also smell the same thing. The look he gave me made my heart race. We had the same mate. When we found her laying in the hospital bed, my heart broke at the condition she was in. I wanted to hold her to me and tell her that everything will be ok but she looked so fragile. So, I settled with holding her hand.

Gabe walked out of the room to call his parents and I stayed behind with her. My lycan would not allow me to leave her alone. He was content and this is the calmest I have felt him in a long time. The doctor needed to check her over and make sure she was healing ok. I let out a growl when he touched her but stayed in the corner of the room while he finished up his exam.

When he was done, he turned to look at me with a small smile. “Beta Cameron, she is healing slowly but since you have been by her side, it looks like the worse wounds have healed faster. I will keep the pain meds going but she may wake up sooner than we think.” He tells me with a bow. “Thank you.” I tell him as I make my way back to her side. Before he leaves, he turns back around and calls out to me. “Beta, the mate bond is a powerful thing and will help her heal faster.” He says and then walks out of the room.

I make my way over to sit on the bed next to my mate. “Lay next to mate and help mate heal” my lycan grumbles. “Yeah, yeah. I hear you” I tell him. I sigh and rub my temples at his pacing and growls. I decided to lay down next to her and feel myself relax. She takes a deep breath and then moves closer to me. I am shocked by her movement but smile. She must be feeling the bond. I close my eyes and allow myself to take deep breaths of her heavenly scent.

It must have been a few minutes but I hear the door open and close. I open my eyes to see Gabe standing in the doorway with a smile on his face. “I see that you couldn’t help yourself” he says in a quiet voice. I look down to see that our mate is snuggled into my side with her face in my neck. “Sorry, mate. My lycan wouldn’t stop until I laid down next to her.” I tell him. I watch as he walks over to my side and leans down close to my ear.

I sigh as he brushes his nose alone my ear before speaking. “It makes me happy seeing my two mates curled up together” he says as he moves away. I smile and look up to him. “How did the phone call go?” I asked him as he sat in the chair next to the bed. He sighs but then smiles. “My parents are happy we found her. My dad was shocked at first but my mother was excited. She can’t wait to meet her” he says as I watch his eyes roam over our mate.

I can’t help but think about the future with them. It is going to be fun and we are going to treat her like a princess. I hear Gabe chuckle and then feel his hand in my hair. “Cam, do you think she will be scared of me?” I am shocked at what he is asking. I looked at him to see he is worried. “Why would you think that Gabe?” I asked him.

He got up and moved to look out the window. I carefully moved our mate and got up to stand behind Gabe. I wrapped my arms around his waist and placed my head on his shoulder. He was still taller than me but not by much. He leans back into me and sighs. “Cam, vampires did this to her. I am a hybrid. She is going to hate me.” He says in a defeated voice. I know where he going with this and I won’t let him think that way. He may be part vampire but he has never fed from a human only wild animals.

I pulled away and moved to stand in front of him. “Gabe, she is going to love you. We will take this slow and you have me. I will help in any way that I can.” I tell him as I pull him to me. He buries his face in my neck and take a deep breath. I run my hand up and down his back hoping to help him relax. We stay like this for who knows how long before he pulls away.

I look into his eyes and I smile at how handsome he is. He shocks me by leaning closer and kissing me. It was a light brush on my lips and I smile when he pulls away. I can see a blush forming on his cheeks and I can’t help but chuckle. “Gabe, we don’t have to hide any more. We can be together and we have our mate to make us all whole.” I tell him. He nods his head and smiles.

“How about I make sure that everyone is getting settled in and you spend some time with our mate?” I suggest to him. He looks to her and then back to me. “What if my beast comes out and she gets scared?” “Gabe, she feels the bond. If your worried about your beast, link me and I will be right back” I tell him as I start to head out towards the door. I turn around to watch as Gabe sits back down and lays his head across her stomach.

I close the door and make my way back to the living arear of the packhouse and find the Alpha standing there pacing. “Hey Alpha Josh, what’s wrong?” I ask him. He stops and then looks to me worried. “Beta Cameron, I am sorry but we seem to have a problem” he says as he hands me a note. I read it and let out a growl. “They know we have her and they want her back. I don’t know what to do” Alpha Josh says before he returns to pacing again. “Josh, calm down. I will make a few phone calls and we will set up camp here. We will help protect your pack.” I tell him as I walk outside to take a deep breath. I need to call my dad.

After four rings dad finally picks up. “Son, it’s getting late. Is everything alright?” he asked. I smiled at his worried tone which means he doesn’t know that we found out mate yet. “Well I have some news to share but first thing it first. There is threat on the pack that we are staying at.” I go on to explain to him what we need and he was going to work on getting back up sent to us as soon as possible. “Now son, tell us what this phone call is really about.”

I sigh and move to sit down. “Dad, I found her.” I tell him. I can hear the excitement in his voice as he calls for my father. “Cam, I hear you found your mate. That is wonderful news” my father says. My dad must have picked up on something else since he speaks next. “There is something else to you finding your mate.” I chuckle and smile thinking about my mates in a room together. “Yes, there it. Let me correct you father. I found my mates” I tell him. I can hear the shock in his voice and the chuckle form my dad. “What to you mean mates?” my father asks. “Keenan, you know what he means but you along with Xavier have not been listening to a single thing.” My dad says.

That is why I tell my dad everything. He is open to everything and is always welcoming to whatever I needed to talk to about soemthign with him. “Father, Gabriel is my other mate. We have been feeling a pull towards each other but we both thought something was missing. It was our other mate. We needed her to feel the full effect of the mate bond.” I tried to explain to my father. “Son, I am happy for you. Have you talked to your aunt and uncle yet.” “No, I haven’t but Gabe called them.”

I sighed as I leaned back on the steps. They sound happy but at the same time worried. Gabe links me. “Cam, I need you here now” he links real quick and he sounds hurt. “Hey I need to go” I don’t wait for them to say bye before hanging up. I rush to the hospital room that I left my mates in and am shocked by what I see. Our mate is on top of Gabe holding a blade against his neck. Gabe has his hand up and not fighting back.

I slowly walk into the room and she looks at me, I can see the tears in her eyes but I can also see the fear. I know Gabe doesn’t smell like a typical lycan or wolf and she must have freaked out by his scent. “Gabe, you alright” I asked him. He nods his head but keeps his eyes closed. His beast is coming out and he doesn’t want to scare her. I look to our mate and watch as she inhales deeply. When she opens her eyes, she relaxes a little bit but does not drop the blade.

“Mate” she says confused but her voice sounds like an angel. “Mate” I call back the same time Gabe says mate. “How” she asks again. This time I slowly make my way to her side and hold my hand out for her. She takes it but then looks to Gabe again. “Why does he smell different?” she asks. “I will answer any question you have but first please give the blade. He will not hurt you” I tell her.

She nods her head and slowly gets up. She keeps a hold on my hand and I pull her to me. She is shaking in my arms and when I look to Gabe, his eyes are still closed. He is battling for control with his beast. “Mate, he smells different because he is also your mate.” I tell her. She pulls back to look at Gabe laying on the floor. “He smells like a different creature. I never came across something like him” she says

I sigh and pull her to me as I sit down on the chair. “Gabe, you can open your eyes” I call out to him. When he opens his eyes, I can see his beast is close to having control. I watch as our mates eyes go wide and she screams out. “Don’t let him hurt me” she says as she buries her head in my neck. I can see the hurt in Gabe’s eyes and watch as a tear falls from his eyes. This is not good. This was what he was worried about.

“Sweetheart. He is not going to hurt you. What causes you to fear our mate?” I ask her. She starts to shake in my arms more and I place my hand on her lower back under her top hoping the spark help calm her. “He has a red eye like them. They are the one who hurt me” she says as she cries. Then it all makes sense. She was held captive by vampires and used to feed from. Gabe growls which causes our mate to whimper.

I watch as he gains control and his eyes return to their normal blue color. He comes closer to us but stays low to the ground in a submissive position. I have never seen him like this. “Please, I didn’t mean to scare you. Please don’t hate me. Please don’t..” he couldn’t even say the words. It would break him and me. After she stayed quiet Gabe got up and started to head towards the door. “I will go let the doctor know that she is awake” Gabe says before he walks out the door.
