Chapter 10

Violet POV

For the rest of the ride, I stayed snuggled up to Cameron. It felt like he had a lot on his mind and needed some comfort. What he did in the bathroom was amazing but also I felt this power flow through me but my lycan told me to trust it. When I tried to question her about it, she would go quiet again. There was something from my missing memory from when I was younger that she was trying to hide from me. I don’t remember much from my childhood but I do remember that I did not look like the people who called themselves my parents.

Gabriel pulled me out of my thoughts when he noticed the wound on my arm. He had a sad smile and then I saw him swallow and turn away. He was struggling with something too. I remember what I know about fated mated amd vampires. They feed off one another and share a connection but also a blood bond too. I wonder if it’s the same for him. I try to reach for him but he pulls even further away. “Please don’t Violet. I don’t trust myself right now” Gabriel said as he looked out the window.

I felt hurt and turned away from him to look at Cameron who let out a low growl. “Gabriel” was all that he had to say before I was pulled into Camron’s lap. I notice that they both were quick looking at each other. They must be linking with each other. I sigh and lean back against Cameron. I hear a chuckle from the front seat to look to see Cole looking back at me with a smile.

“Sorry but they can be rude sometimes. Has either of them explained to you what happens when a vampire finds their mate?” he asked and then I remember some of the things that I was told and saw when I was with them. I nod my head and try to shake the memory. “I do but why is he trying hard to fight his instincts. I know that he would never hurt me” I tell Cole.

He gives me a smile before he speaks again. “Violet, he is trying to fight his instincts because of what you went through. He doesn’t want to trigger any memories and be respectful to you.” It all made sense. I nod my head and looked between both Cameron and Gabriel. They were still locked in their conversation. So, I had to ask Cole about what I felt. He may know something.

“I know you are wanting to know about that power you felt. We all felt it” Cole said before I could even say anything. “I do. I feel like it’s something important but I can’t remember why. It’s like my mind in foggy from when I was little.” I tell him. Cole nods his head and smiles. “I promise you Violet that we will help you figure it out. I know my mate and Gabriel’s parents will do what they can to help too.” He says with a smile. I nod my head and smile back at him as I lean more into Cameron’s hold.

The car starts to move again and I feel Cameron’s arm wrap around me tighter. I look up and see that he and Gabriel are done with whatever they were talking about. “Sorry about that sweetheart.” Cameron says as he kisses the top of my head. I look over to see Gabriel look at me with sad eyes and I wonder why he looks like that. Before I can say anything, Gabriel reaches for my hand and intertwines our fingers. “I am sorry that you got hurt again. I should have been more on guard” he says while he gives my hand a squeeze.

I move away from Cameron and lean into Gabriel’s side. “It’s not your fault. Please don’t blame yourself” I tell him hoping he will feel a little a better. He wraps his arm around me and pulls me into his lap. I snuggle into his chest as he wraps his arms around me and kisses the top of my head. “I promise you that nothing will ever happen to you again”. I look up into his eyes and see he means it. “I trust you Gabriel.” I tell him and snuggle into his chest.

It's another hour before we arrive at the gates of the coven. I feel on edge but my lycan is calm for some reason. When one the guards nods at us, the gates open and I feel like I have been here before. There are trees lining the side of the road but what really makes me think I have been before was the fountain in front of the mansion. It was black stone carved to look like an angle with wings reaching to the sky. I feel my head start to hurt and close my eyes to wait out the pain. Gabriel and Cameron must have noticed since I feel both of their hands on me.

“Love, what’s wrong?” Gabriel asks in a quiet voice. “My head hurts” I say in a quiet voice. “How can we help” comes Cameron’s worried voice. “Son, why don’t you two hold her, while we unload. I will get you as soon as we need you” Cole tells us. “Sounds good dad” Cameron responds. I feel him move closer to me and then I am sandwiched between both of them.

After a few minutes, the pain starts to go away. When I open my eyes, I am met with two sets of worried eyes. “How are you feeling sweetheart?” Cameron asks as quiet as he can. “Better. I don’t know why but it feels like I have been here before” I tell them. They both look at me and then each other. “Love, we will figure it out. Maybe we can ask Jasper and his mate Jewels” Gabriel says. I nod my head and close my eyes again.

There is a knock on the door that makes me open my eyes again. The door opens and Cole’s head pops in. “It time to go. They are waiting to greet us” Cole tells us. I take a deep breath and nod my head. Cameron gets out first and then offers me his hand. I take his hand and he help me out of the SUV. Gabriel gets out and then pulls me into his side as we make our way to the front steps.

We are greeted by two older looking people. The man looks at me and gives me a smile and the women next to him has her hand over mouth with tears in her eyes. I wonder why they are acting like that. Gabriel clears his throat and starts to talk. “Thank you for hosting us. Lord Jasper and Lady Jewels. I am Prince Gabriel. This is my beta Cameron and our mate Violet” he introduces us to them and was when Lady Jewels bursts into tears. “It’s can’t be” she says in a whimper as she tries to approach me.

Gabriel pulls me behind him and lets out a low growl. Cameron places a hand on his shoulder to calm him. “Calm down mate. Everything is fine” Cameron whispers to him. I move to step in front of Gabriel and place my hand on his face. “Calm my mate.” I say in a quiet voice. He leans into my touch and closes his eyes. “Sorry. My beast surfaced. He doesn’t like strong emotions and felt threatened.” Gabriel says as he opens his eyes. “No Prince Gabriel. It is out fault. I will explain inside” Lord Jasper says. I look at him and see a sad smile on his face. There is something familiar about those eyes but I don't understand why.

We all make out way inside and sit in a large open space that I am guessing in the living room of the mansion. Lord Jasper has Lady Jewels in his lap and she still has tears in her eyes whispering in her mate’s ear. I am sitting on Gabriel’s lap while Cameron in sitting next to us. Cole is standing behind us like a protective father figure waiting for them to start talking.

It was Lord Jasper that speaks first. “I am sorry about my lovely mate’s outburst. It’s just that we thought you were dead my dear” I am shocked by his words. “What do you mean Jasper?” Gabriel speaks in a low voice. Lady Jewels looks to us and then back to her mate. “It’s a long story but we know who you are Violet. We were close friends with your parents.” Jewels tells us with a sad voice. I am shocked and I feel a little dizzy. I place my hand to my head and close my eyes. Gabriel places his hand over mine and nuzzles into the side of my head. “Your head hurting again?” he asks in a quiet voice. I nod my head and close my eyes.

With my eyes closed I see flashes of a scene that I wish I did not see. There was death and blood everywhere. I see a man’s hand reach for me and see that it was my foster father. I open my eyes and start shaking. “Love what’s wrong?” Gabriel asks. I look up into his worried eyes and feel Cameron move closer to us. “I had a flashback. It was…..” I trail off not wanting to remember what I had just seen. It was Lady Jewels voice that I hear next.

She moved closer to us and places her hand on mine. “Violet, you saw what happened to your people. You saw a battle field with death all around you” she says and I nod my head as tears fall from my eyes. “I saw so much blood and bodies all around me. I saw the man who I thought was my foster father take me” I tell her. She looks up at me with a sad smile. “Violet, my dear. Your pack was attacked and they killed everyone or at least we thought they did. When we arrived to help after getting a phone call from your father, we found both your parents dead but we couldn’t find you or anyone else” she tells me with hesitation in her voice. It seemed like there was more to what she was going to say but is holding back.

My lycan is howling in my head at the memory and what we were just told. “So, you are saying she was taken from her home. What is the name of her pack?” Cole asks. I open my eyes to look up at Cole and then to Jasper. “She is from the Sliver Claw pack” Jasper says and I feel Gabriel stiffen up. “You can’t mean” he starts to say but is cut off my Cole. “I knew I felt that power before. I have met the alpha and Luna of the pack when I was younger. I remember the day we go the phone call about the pack being attacked.” Cole says with sadness.

I look up to him and he gives me a sad smile. “Little flower is what your mother called you Violet. I got to meet you as a baby when your parents came to meet with Xavier and Skylar. I never thought that I would see you again. When we call the call was made to Jasper that the pack was attacked” Cole stops talking and closes his eyes. “We were told there was nothing left. That everyone was killed.” Cole finishes.

I sit in complete silence as I let everything sink in. My parents were an alpha and Luna so that means I am of alpha blood. Jewels pulls me from my thoughts. “My dear, you are special. Not only was your father of alpha blood but so was your mother. You are pure alpha and powerful but you also have a gift that you should have inherited from your mother.” A gift from my mother. “What do you mean by a gift from her mother?” Cameron asks.

Jasper chuckles and we all look to him. “Not just her mother my love but also from her father.” He says with a smile. Gabriel lets out a low growl before speaking. “This is not funny” he says irritated. “Sorry Gabriel. Her mother was a healer and her father was what we call an elemental.” I am lost for words. I know have heard some stories about an elemental but I thought there were all dead. “No, you are the last known” I hear my lycan tell me before she goes quiet again.

“How was her father an elemental? I thought they were long gone and part of our history” Cameron speaks in a shaky voice. “Her father hid his power unless he needed to use it. His kind was hunted for their power and killed in fear of them trying to rule over us all like in the old world. Only a few knew about his power and we promised to protect his secret.” Jasper speaks. I am dizzy from all of this information. “What kind of element did he wield” Gabriel asks next. “He was could wield all elements but fire was his strongest” Jasper answers Gabriel.

Jewels gets up and walks over to a book case pulls out what looks like a photo album. She walks back over to us and shows us a picture of a man and women smiling at each other. “This is your mother and father. I knew your mother before she met you father and before I met Jasper. We were best friends” Jewels tells me while I continue to look at the picture. “You two were more like sisters than friends.” Jasper says with a chuckle. “Well true but that is why she also trusted me with a secret of her own. Your mother was not just a healer but also had control over the element of water.”

I look at her with my eyes wide. “You my dear are very powerful and will need to learn to control your power” she tells me and I shake my head. I want to run. This cannot be true. If I was as powerful as this think I am, then why did I go through everything that I did. Everything comes back to me all at once. The pain, the hopelessness, the torture and the r**e. I jump up from Gabriel’s lap and wrap my arms around myself. “This can’t be true.” I say before I take off running out the door. I hear people calling out to me but I don’t stop running.
