Author's P. O. V. (the present) Fuck!” Vansh cursed as Adya looked away from him as well, creating a little distance between them, He was just so close to holding her hand. This time with her consent. “Vansh,” the same voice from earlier came closer as he put on a fake small smile underneath that smile he was fuming. “Veronica, hi,” Vansh said as he forwarded his hand to the girl in her early twenties. Veronica knowingly ignored Vansh’s forwarded hand before she put both her hands on his shoulders and pulled him for a cheek-to-cheek hug. Adya’s eyes said the words her lips could not, she walked away from Vansh as his lips parted in surprise. “Ad—“He wanted to call her but before that Veronica broke the hug with him and smiled. “I didn’t expect you to become the CEO this soon,” She said as Vansh took a sharp breath. “My age does not do justice to my skills,” Vansh took pride in his work, after all, he had ruined his most precious memories for work. It was all he had, his skills. “Oh, I don’t doubt that,” Veronica’s hand traveled to his arm as Vansh looked at her, the woman in front of him was no doubt sexy but not the one he wanted. He needed. “Masquerade dance is about to start, let’s join in,” Veronica said as she started to pull Vansh along with her before he could even answer her. From the corner of his eyes, he saw Adya talking to someone, specifically Abhimanyu Raizada—a shareholder in Raghuvanshi Empire and the CEO of a jewelry business. His grip on Veronica unknowingly tightened as she took him to the center of the stage, soon masks were given to them and everyone else in the party. “Hey,” Veronica got his attention on her as she kept her hands on his shoulder, Vansh held her wait while Adya watched him with a raised eyebrow. As if asking, ‘Are we seriously doing this now?’ She wore the mask as if accepting his challenge. “Shall we?” She asked holding Abhimanyu’s arm as he smiled, “Sure,” Soon Adya and Abhimanyu were on the stage and so were Veronica and Vansh. Fuck! Even their names rhyme Vansh was not even listening to a word Veronica said, his eyes were glaring on Abhimanyu’s hand that rested on Adya’s waist. The same case was with Adya she could not stop herself from looking at his arm on Veronica’s waist. Suddenly the soft music changed to a little erotic one as the partners swapped. Vansh was quick to pull Adya into his arms as she clashed against his hard chest, her hands rested on his chest as she looked at him in surprise. “I am a very jealous man,” He confessed against her ear as she shivered in his arms. “When were you not?” She asked with a dry chuckle as the lighting around them was dimmed to a minimum. “Indeed,” He said as his hand sneaked around her naked waist, his touch, the touch she craved made her close her eyes in contentment for a few moments as he made her hands rest on his shoulders and follow the rhythm. “You are angry, Jaan,” his words were not a question but a statement. Adya bites her lower lip looking everywhere but not at him. “Shouldn’t I be?” She asked when he held her chin lightly in the shade of a dance step. “I am ready to bear your anger,” He turned her around as her back touched his chest. “Your hate,” Her eyes stared at him through the twist as he did that against her, this time pulling her closer. “Your frustration, your unsaid words but—“he stopped as she looked at him from her kohl-filled eyes. “Everything of yours belongs to me, be it your hate or love,” He said in a tone that made Adya gulp. “You don’t own me, Vansh Raghuvanshi,” She said looking at him challengingly. “I own your soul, Jaan,” He said with a chuckle that silently made his claim on her. “In your dreams,” She rolled her and was about to walk away when Vansh held her waist closer to him, and within the next second, the hook of her blouse was open making her eyes wide. “What on earth—“She was about to lunge punches at him but he left her to hold her blouse in place. “Come with me,” He said before taking her to the side where it was all dark. “What have you done?” Adya cried as she tried to hook it back but her hands were not reaching it now. “Let me,” He said as Adya moved away in anger. “You are the one who did this, I won’t trust you again,” She said as his face turned blank for a second, Adya was busy trying to hook her blouse back in place when she felt a pair of cold fingers against the curve of her back. “I have your heart, I will win your trust too,” he said placing his lips on her back for a second as Adya’s eyes widened, He hooked the blouse back in its place and turned her around. “Give us a second chance,” He demanded but Adya shook her head. “I—I can—n’t” Her heart was racing madly, and her mind struggled to put words together. “Jaan,” He called her again to hold her cheek but she moved away as he felt a pang of hurt in his chest. “No,” With that, she ran away.
