“f**k!”
“s**t”
Two voices echoed in the silent space of the restaurant, Adya looked at the guy who had ruined her date, well accidently saving her from an arsehole but yeah he did ruin it for her.
While Vansh was looking at the girl who had come in all dressed in a black dress.
“Would you like order sir, mam?” The waiter asked but noticed the awkwardness between the two.
“I am leaving,” Adya announced throwing a hundred dollar bill on the table as Vansh watched.
“Running away, are we?” He said a little loudly gaining her attention, Adya contemplated and then turned around.
“What?” She dared him to repeat his words.
“You are running away,” He stated, decreasing the distance between the two.
“I am not,” She was lying. Vansh tilt his head and gave her a small smirk.
“Our scores are settled,” he said holding the chair out for her, Adya looked around before she bit the inside of her cheek and got into the seat.
“I remember,” Her answer was cold, Anxiety had gripped her heart.
“Vansh,” He introduced himself with a small smile and poured the wine into the glasses.
“Adya,” Her voice was soft as she looked away.
“It’s our date,” he stressed on the word ‘our ‘knowingly.
“Sadly,” She commented taking the wine glass he had forwarded.
“Why waste this beautiful evening,” He said.
“It’s already wasted,” Adya said under her breath, this blind date had become ego face off.
“I should leave now,” She said finishing off her one drink.
“I find you interesting, “His words stopped her action as she turned her gaze at him, for the first time he got time to admire her eyes. Dark brown, two daunting beauties.
“But you keep running away,” he challenged her with his eyes.
“You ruined my date,” She said, keeping away the awkwardness.
“You started it, I just gave you a taste of your own medicine,” He said pouring himself some more wine.
“And welcome by the way,” He said making her chuckle.
“I won’t thank you for that,” She knew he was referring to the guy.
“Are we soul mates? Cause you just understood me so well,” He teased.
“On how many girls you have used that pickup line?” Adya laughed. Now that the ice between them was broken, Vansh ordered the pasta for both of them.
“I suppose you like going on dates?” He asked as they started their meal.
Adya chuckled, “no,” She shook her head and took another bite of her white sauce pasta, “All of them were dares,” She said, she did not want to give him the satisfaction of being any special.
“Fan of truth and dare? Interesting,” He said, observing her, she had a little bit of sauce on her lips. Vansh diverted his eyes away from her lips before passing her a tissue.
“Oh thanks,”
“You like black?” He asked seeing her attire, she was dressed in a pair of body hugging jeans and turtle neck top, giving a defining look to her lean features.
“Favorite color,” She replied.
“kuch puchu tumse? “ (Can I ask you something?) She suddenly changed her language to Hindi as she held her breath, “hmm,” he was waiting for her question.
“Heartbroken or trust broken?” Her words stopped his breath for a second, His eyes stared at hers, and she rested her hands on the table.
“What if I say both?” He answered. For the first time someone had read the pain in his eyes behind the charming smiles and playboy acts.
“Who was she?” She asked, getting curious.
“My first love,” He replied as a pang of hurt ran through her veins.
“Sorry,” She murmured when he did not say anything else.
“She cheated,” He said, He himself could not believe he was keeping the darkest parts of himself in front of a total stranger.
Well maybe because talking to strangers is easy?
“With my best friend,” Her eyes were bulging out of their sockets.
“Your turn,” He said, looks like they were out on truths tonight.
“Several boyfriends,” She said.
“Give me a number,” He demanded, this time she ordered spicy noodles for both of them.
“14,” She replied making him nod.
“Duration?” He asked.
This time she laughed, “1 day, 3 days, one week… and the longest, one month,” She replied.
“Let me guess, Assholes?” She laughed at his words.
“Yeah,” she replied, with a smile on her face. The time with talks flew, Adya’s phone pinged making her drop her words.
‘Pick me’ that was from Liliana.
“I have to go,” She said as he nodded, He called for the bill and Adya peaked inside before keeping the half of the amount.
“Allow me,” He demanded.
“This was more like a friendly dinner, maybe you can pay up next time,” She said as he smiled, a slight blush maybe? She was not sure.
“Adya,” He stopped her and jogged towards her.
“Can I walk you to your car?” he asked, Adya looked at him for a second before she nodded.
“So you plan on meeting me next time?” He questioned pocketing his hands.
“I think so,” She replied taking in his features.
They stopped by her car to which Vansh whistled, “You know, to contact you… I might need your number,” he said as she giggled before writing something on the paper and handing it to him.
Adya looked at Vansh as he waived his hand with a small smile.
“Aji sunti ho,” (hey listen) the words made Adya laugh before she turned to him.
“Kahiye,” (speak)
“Jaldi ana,” (Be back fast) He said making a smile break out on their faces before she ignited the engine and drove off.
Vansh kept looking at the car until it was out of his sight.
