  Amelia's POV   One year later   The cool summer breeze hits me as I step out of the hospital doors, waving goodbye to Nurse Annie, who's heading home after her shift. My own shift ended about an hour ago, but I stayed behind to help her tidy up. "See you tomorrow, Annie!" I call, clutching my bag tighter as the sun begins its descent over the city skyline.   It's been a long day, but I'm not complaining. In fact, it feels good to be busy. A lot has happened in the past year. For one, I'm officially done with my first year as a Biological Science major at Columbia—exactly as I'd dreamed. The days of high school feel like a lifetime ago.
