Marcus finally spoke the truth they were all already feeling:
“We must protect her. She is one of a kind.” One by one, they all nodded, not out of fear but out of certainty.
In Mira’s arms, Selene shifted, letting out a soft, contented sound before settling again—completely unaware of the vows forming around her or perhaps… perfectly aware.
The Ritual of Protection
Raven turned to her daughter, Mira, and spoke softly. “Mira, place Selene in the middle of the bed.” Mira complied, gently settling Selene at the centre, surrounded by those who cared for her most. At Raven’s instruction, each member of the group reached for the hands of the others, forming a circle of unity and strength.
In that moment, Raven called upon her magic. Marcus and Mira joined her, their voices chanting low and steady. Power surged between them, the air within the cottage humming with static power as energy began to rise. It flowed through the cottage, seeped deep into the earth beneath reaching out like the roots of trees expanding deep into the earth across pack and coven land, and soared above the clouds across the sky deep old magic which seemed to reach across the voids of space and time, it resonated through all of them, seeming to reach into their souls, their wolves their magic, and Celine at the cent of it all began to rise and then Raven’s words resonated: “No one shall pass that means harm. This is a place of safety, of love. So, it is said, so it is done.” The earth-shattering bolt of energy spread throughout the cottage, anchoring itself into the lands of the pack territory and reaching into the domain of the coven. The protective runes emanated across the cottage, ensuring no harm could come to anyone from either pack or coven.
They all felt the profound connection to the earth, the air, and the elements surrounding them. Raven spoke with quiet certainty: “It is done.” They all look at each other as the air seemed to flow around them. Celine went back onto the bed. Gently Merrick looked stunned. He was lost for words.
Jonathan, the Alpha of the pack, nodded. “Now we must contact the Wolven Council.” Marcus agreed, adding, “We will reach out to the Coven of Elders.”
Raven turned to her daughter “rest now my darling we will stay in the guest lodge if that’s ok with Jonathan and Kaelis?” “You are family of course it’s fine, do you need anything we can send someone to the lodge with groceries” “Kaelis thank you that would be nice” they kissed each other and said their goodbyes. Mira nursed Selene then Merrick then placed Selene in her crib, gently turned to his wife, and kissed her thank you my mate you and Selene are everything to me now rest my love
In the morning, Raven contacted the Elder Council members of the coven and out for Jonathan contacted the Wolven elder Council, each explained they all made the decision to visit at the same time to examine Selene.
