Seraphine’s resolve hardened. “I hope you’re ready,” she whispered under her breath. Then she stepped forward into the edge of danger and reached for the door to Selene’s Room. In her chamber, Selene sat in silence, the faint pulse of binding magic still coiled around the air like invisible chains. A soft knock broke the stillness. She lifted her gaze. “Come in.” The door opened slowly, and Seraphine stepped inside.
