No, this can't be happening. Could I be? What am I going to do if I am pregnant? How will Hayden handle it if I am? Will he be excited? Mad? Will he still want me?
"When was that baby? You can tell me."
"The day before I had the miscarriage," I say, looking at him with what I can only imagine is fear showing on my face.
"Come on; we will go get a test. You can take one tonight."
"You don't mind that I may be pregnant with our child,"
"I am scared, but if you are pregnant, we will get through it together. We love each other. We will be fine." Hayden said as he grabbed my hand and we headed to each door. "Oh kitten, if your pregnant, you're not working anymore; I am moving in and, we are getting married,"
"You want to be with me for the rest of your life? Even with a crazy ex causing so many problems," I say, smiling at him.
"I had wanted to marry you since before we went on that business trip,"
"Wow… I don't know what to say. I love you so much, Hayden. I don't know how I became so lucky to get you, but I am glad I did. Let's go get this test to see if we are going to be parents," I say, pecking his lips.
We climbed in the car and headed to the drug store. We park, head into the store and go straight to the women's products. Once there, we are overwhelmed by how many pregnancy tests there are. I look at him, "Why don't we get a First Response and Clear Blue test. These are the best ones, I believe," I say.
"Okay, sounds good, Didn't realize there were so many," Hayden says.
"Let's go. I am getting tired and I need to pee. Which is a good thing if you want me to take those tonight," I say, winking at Hayden.
Once we pay for the test, we go to the drive-thru at McDonald's, grab our dinner and head back home. Once we were home, I took each test while Hayden got our dinner set up on the table. I called for him when I realized that it wouldn't take much longer for the results to show.
"What are the results?" he asked me.
"We have about a minute left. I wanted you to be here with me so we could look together. Are you still scared?" I asked him.
"I think I am more nervous than anything," Hayden says as the timer goes off.
I picked them up; he and I both looked simultaneously. I am pregnant. "Hayden, baby, we are going to be parents,"
"I am going to be a daddy, holy crap. I am going to be a dad. Kitten, we are going to be the best parents ever, aren't we?"
"I sure hope so. I will call and get into the doctor's tomorrow. Do you want to come with me?"
"Yes, I don't plan on missing any of your doctor appointments. I will be right there with you for everyone. Now let's go feed you two before you fall asleep," Hayden says.
"I wonder how far along I am. Wait, I was supposed to get my period while we were on our trip. Hayden, I think I am about six weeks pregnant. Did we use condoms at all the first few times we slept together?" I asked with a smirk.
"I don't think we did, kitten. You think one of those times that day is when you conceived," he states.
"I think so. Guess we will see when we get to the doctor," I say as I head into the kitchen. "Hmm..can we wait until I am 12 weeks before we tell anyone. Other than work?" I asked.
"Whatever you want, but I think we need to tell Maddison and Brenden. We can do that after the doctor's appointment," Hayden says as we sit at the table.
"Maddison would be pissed if I kept this from her. Not to mention that you said you want me to stay home. If I just up and quit. She would be a little worried about me. Maybe even a little more pissed off." I say, laughing.
"You're right. When Nidia is worried or pissed off, she becomes scary. I can't imagine how she would react to you, just not showing up at work,"
"She would flip the heck out. So, were you serious about marrying me if I was pregnant? I mean, I know that we love each other that we have known each other for years, but are you sure you want me forever."
"Yes, I want to marry you. I love you and want to be with you forever." Hayden says as we finish eating. "Let's go watch some TV,"
"Only if I can cuddle you," I say, grinning.
"I wouldn't have it any other way, kitten,"

I wake up early and call my boss to let him know I won't be at work. I then call Maddison. "Maddison, I won't be going to work today. Can you and Brenden come over for dinner tonight? We have something I need to tell both."
"Sure, we will be there. Does the reason you're not going to work today have anything to do with what you all want to speak to us?" Maddison says.
"It may, but you will have to come over and see. I need to get off here. I need to lay down for a little while; I am not feeling well," I say.
"Okay, I hope you feel better. See you this evening,"
We hung up, and I set my alarm for Nine to call the doctor's office. I climb into bed and cuddle with Hayden. It seems as soon as I drift off to sleep, the alarm goes off. I sit up, turn off the alarm, stand up. As soon as my feet hit the floor, I feel vomit rise in my throat and dart off to the bathroom. As I was puking in the toilet, I heard the door open and Hayden come and hold my hair. "Baby, are you going to be alright?' I nod my head.
When I finish, I flush the toilet and brush my teeth. "Morning sickness just hit, it seems. I am still feeling a little nauseous, but I will be okay. I believe it is my body telling me everything is fine with the baby."
"I know it's normal, but I don't like to see you sick. Do you think you can keep anything down? I can fix you some toast. If you want me to."
"Yeah, I should try to make sure my stomach isn't empty. I hate puking," I say as we walk into the kitchen.
"I got up and called work to let them know that I am taking a personal day today. Did you call your workplace? And Maddison?" Hayden asked.
"Yes, I did. I invited Melinda and Brenden here for dinner this evening. She is a little worried about me because I never call in. So I look for her to be here right after work. I should call the doctor's office and see if they can get me in."
"You do that; I will start on breakfast."
"Sounds like a plan to me. Oh, we can't forget that the guys will be here this afternoon to install the cameras."
"I talked to Preston. He said that if we aren't here, they will start installing the camera until we return."
"I will call the doctor now, but then I want to discuss something with you," I say as I walk to the living room to get my phone,
I dial the number to the doctor and wait for a few minutes for someone to answer. "Thank you for calling Dr. Fran's office. How may I help you?"
"Hi, my name is Melinda Clark. I was calling because I took a pregnancy test and it was positive. I have a history of miscarriage and was wanting to get checked to make sure everything is alright."
"Okay, Ms. Clark, I have an opening for eleven o'clock today. Can you make it in?"
"I will be there. Thank you." I say and hang up the phone. I walk into the kitchen take a seat on the counter, "Doctor Fran can see at eleven o'clock today." I tell Hayden. As I sat there, the smell of eggs hit me, which caused me to dash back to the bathroom.
As I returned to the kitchen, I went to the table and sat down. "Kitten, do you think you can eat this slice of toast?" Hayden says as he walks to me and sets down the plate.
"I hope so," I say, smiling at him. "I think I need to get used to this sick thing. It will be here for a while as it is normal for pregnancy. I will think of it as a sign our little bean is healthy."
"Let's go ahead and eat. While we are eating, you can tell me what it is wanted to discuss with me."
"With me being pregnant, the stuff that is happening around here is making me nervous. What if Tanner does something that causes me to get hurt or, worse, lose this baby? I can't take the risk of losing another baby due to Tanner. So I want to sell this place and buy another house somewhere that Tanner doesn't know about. I am scared. I don't want to be in this house anymore."
"That is understandable; I agree with you we need to move, so Tanner has no idea where we are. We will start looking right before we go to sleep. I was worrying a little too. I want to make sure you and our bean are safe." Hayden says as we eat our breakfast,
"The toast has settled my stomach some."
"Good babe, I am glad. I am going to clean my car out. I will be back in about 30 minutes to get ready. So you need something before I go outside?"
"A kiss, please, kind sir," I say, grinning.
"I can do that," he says as he stands and comes over to me and picks me up, carries me to the living room; he sits me down on the sofa and bends his head down to connect our lips. Before we realize it, our kiss becomes passionate. "Damn, kitten, now all I want to do is bring you to our room and make love to you," Hayden says in a raspy voice.
"Then what are you waiting for?" I say. Hayden picks me back up, carries me to our bed, lays me down, climbs on me, and kisses me. "You are going to be the death of me. You have no idea what you do to me,"
"I have some idea. I can feel how much you want me," I say as I run my hand over Hayden's boxer-covered member.
Soon we are making love nice and slow. Laying in Hayden's arms, trying to catch our breath, I listen to his heartbeat and wonder what I did to deserve this man? He treats me like a queen. I have a feeling that it will only intensify as the pregnancy progresses.
We get out of bed, shower, get dressed, and leave the house to head to the doctor's office. As Hayden was climbing in his car, he noticed fluid on the ground; he bent down, looked under his car, and saw someone cut the brake lines. "Damn it, Mel. We are going to take your vehicle. My brake lines have been cut," Hayden says.
"Here are my keys, babe. My car is in the garage."
"I am going to have to call and see if I can get Simon to come and fix my brake lines. I am glad that I noticed that before we got on the road."
"I can't believe him. Why is he getting worse? How will we enjoy each other and this pregnancy if we keep dealing with his stupid ass? I am sick of him. I wish I had never met him. He has done nothing but make me a weak woman," I say.
"Listen, Kitten, don't stress over him. The more energy we waste on him, the more he wins. We need to hurry and find a house for us. After this appointment, we need to discuss getting married, but right now, I only want us to think of the little bean in your tummy," Hayden says, flashing a smile that awakens the butterflies in my stomach.
I nod my head. "You're right. I am not going to give him any more of my energy. He is not going to win. I am with you and we have created a life together. This bean and you are what matters. Do you know where you would like to start looking for a house to buy?"
"Yes, I have a few places in mine. I just wanted to check them out before I said anything to you. There is one that I am hoping is still available,"
We soon turned into the doctor's office's parking lot and found a place to park. Hayden got out and ran over to my door. He opened it and helped me out. As we walk into the office, I notice a few pregnant women in the waiting room. I walked to the window and signed my name, letting them know I had arrived. We found a couple of seats and sat down. A few minutes later, I got called up to fill out some paperwork. "Ms. Clark, can you fill this out? It will help us with your care," the young receptionist says, smiling at me.
"Sure will," I replied and walked back to Hayden and sat back down, filled out the paperwork, and gave it back to the front desk.
"The doctor will be ready for you in a few minutes," she says.
About ten minutes later, I was called back and asked to pee in a cup. I do just that and settle in the small room and wait for the doctor. I look over at Hayden and he seems so nervous.
