On the move

Feeling the cool forest air around me made me sigh out in relief. the feeling of being in danger hadn't left jet, but now at least I felt like I was back in control. The forest was where I felt most save now I was all alone without any form of backup. using the rubber band to tie the backpack around my waist, I laid down on the cool ground. I could smell the cool dirt and relaxed my body. In my wolf form I was faster and my senses where heightened. As long as I made sure nobody would see me I would be fine. The shift was almost painless and didn't take longer than a minute. my thoughts winced away from the memory of the first few times. the pain of your first shift is something you will never forget. Walking to a nearby pool of mirky water I peeked at my wolf form. One side of my body was golden brown and the other side almost all white except for my eyebrow. Like I was split in the middle with a paintbrush, personally I didn’t understand why my looks would make people take offense. Okay if you don’t like it but how somebody looks is not that bad. I did like how my wolf form looked, kind of elegant and one of a kind plus the speed my wolf could get to was amazing. The backpack sat securely on my wolf form. I tried to shake a few times to feel if it really was secure. After all, it was all I owned in the world. the dirt felt nice under my paws, and I wiggled my toes clawing them into the dirt. then I lunged myself into a dash feeling the air swoosh around me, made me burst out in giggles. First, I let all lose, letting instinct take over and burning off all the pent-up energy and anger of the last few months. After running full speed for half an hour or so I settled into a nice trot. Getting some distance between me and the town, slowly I started to worry where I should go to I had to have at least some sort of plan. What did mom say again… follow your instinct. I stopped to get my feelers out to see if my instinct had anything to say. My ears pricked up and I used my nose as mom taught me, hell I was being followed time to move kid I mumbled to myself as I started up running again. after a while, the feeling of being followed got too overwhelming to ignore. So I decided to shift back to make sure they didn’t see my wolf form. I got the knife out off the bag and hid everything else in a bush nearby quickly putting at least some pants and a shirt on. No use showing more skin to bite. While waiting for my followers to show up I set up a small trap and gathered some berries. It wouldn’t be long before the forest wouldn’t have much to eat left so better make do with what I can find. My trap caught a little rabbit and since I wasn’t hiding at the moment I made a little fire cooking it up. As soon as my dinner of rabbit and berries was done I just sat there resting and saving up my strength, waiting for the fight that would soon come. It wasn’t long before I could pick up there smells and sound. Three rogue wolfs emerged from the bushes. As far as I could see young once since they were smaller then I was in wolf form. Also for males they were not that muscular jet although I wouldn’t tell them that. Raising my voice so they could see and hear me I yelled; I don’t know why you are following me but I have nothing of value. But if you try to take anything from me I will fight back! The two smaller wolfs looked at the bigger one in the back and then started prowling towards me. This is your last warning I told them but the front one already was showing his teeth to me and not backing down. Well you asked for it I said showing my knife so they new I wasn’t playing either. When the first one lunged for me I ran myself into a sliding cutting up whatever I could reach under him. By the warm blood I could feel on my face I hit more then enough. Springing up from under him I turned around. Just one smidge to late the other small wolf had caught my wrist as I was standing up so I banged the back of the knife into his snout. He whined and let go. Big mistake. I kicked him right in his chest scooting him several meters back. Now there was only the big one left. He was looking at me and thinking up something by the look in his eyes. If you leave now I will not follow you I told him again hoping he would take his injured buddies and just leave. The growl that came out told me he wasn’t planning too. He took a big jump towards me, trying to land onto something he could bite. His inexperience with a fight showing by the wrong assumption. I planted the knife firmly into his belly using his speed to smack him into a tree behind me. Seeing how all three off them where not in any shape to follow me I took the escape. I grabbed the backpack out of the hiding place and places it on my shoulders. I felt too unsafe to shift now. I’ve always felt saver in my human form as my mom thought me to fight in it. saying that my wolf form was not for others to see unless i was in my forever pack. So I started up a jog in my human form while examining the injury on my wrist. He did break the skin but not the bones. Lucky and sloppy on my part. They where untrained children, if it were real rogue wolfs I would have been dead. The moon goddess must have my back I thought to myself, and just like that the moon showed a path leading more into the forest.
