Air caught in Zephyr’s lungs, heartbeat pulsing heavily in his ears. Coming here he'd expected something else. An emergency or assignment, but this? An interrogation from his mentor? Zephyr swallowed the lump formed in his throat, clasping the cup of coffee he held tighter. Opposite him, Rowan reclined on the chair, his piercing brown eyes fixed on Zephyr’s face. A knot tightened Zephyr’s gut, every second spent in silence felt like eternity. He didn't have that much time.
