The sounds of alarm ringing cut through the atmosphere, stirring Zephyr from his sleep. His eyes snapped open and met with the rays of sunlight streaming in, between the window curtains. He turned away, groaning as he forced himself off his bed. The anger in his chest had eased, the tenseness in his muscles too. He was feeling his old self again. But not the warmth of home. His mother was gone, it was just him now. His eyes saddened and he walked over to his reading table. He sank into the chair then turned on his laptop, clicking on his mailbox. Dear Mom, It's the first day since you left, and I am already missing you, badly. Despite being upset with you for leaving so suddenly, I forgive you. But mostly, I hope you can forgive me for how I spoke to you on our last night together.
