The Setup
Super Pump Six gas station. About two miles west of Sand Mill, Arizona.
The Lincoln Killers g**g left California with their leader, Grinder, in front on I-5 headed south. They’d decided to avoid Los Angeles – too many cops, and too many rival gangs – so they took I-40 through Bakersfield and picked up Highway 93 south toward Phoenix through a desolate section of Southern Arizona. They planned to pick up I-10 at Phoenix and ride it all the way to Houston.
As they approached a decrepit gas station on the outskirts of the town of Sand Mill on 93, Grinder put his hand into the air and waved it in a circle. It was the signal they were about to pull over. Loud Harleys of various models rumbled into the gas station and swarmed the pumps.
