I stared intently up at Aurora, searching her eyes for some kind of answer to the sudden, chaotic pulling in my chest. Without thinking, I leaned forward, my eyes locked onto her lips, completely drawn in. But before I could close the distance, she abruptly stood up.
My eyes flickered with a sudden, sharp wave of disappointment.
"Are you both alright?" Aurora asked, her voice steady as she looked between the two of us.
"I'm fine," Lucian panted from his side of the room, running a hand through his sweat-drenched hair. He looked up at her, his eyes soft. "Thank you for coming to save us."
