If they found out the absolute truth—that Damon and Emette were actually in a romantic relationship—I would lose every single piece of leverage I had over them. I wouldn't be able to threaten or control them anymore. I needed to keep that cold, paralyzing fear alive in their chests. They needed to believe that their secret would ruin them.
"Aurora, are you really pregnant?" Damon’s mother asked, rushing into the room with wide, anxious eyes as she looked directly at her.
Before Aurora could even open her mouth to speak, I stepped forward smoothly. "Aunty, have I ever lied to you? She is strictly pregnant, and Damon is definitively the father."
Damon’s mother clutched her chest, her face lighting up with pure joy. "My goodness... I am going to be a grandmother soon!"
