Asher POV After returning from the library, I said goodbye to Amara, feeling a mix of contentment and anticipation. Spending time with her had been wonderful, and I was already looking forward to our next study session. Arriving home, I found Mom shuffling around the house, her movements quick and somewhat frantic. "Hey, Mom, I'm home. What's going on?" I asked, placing my bag down and noticing the unusual activity. "Oh, Asher honey, welcome home," Mom said, picking up some clothes and folding them hastily. "Your uncle called and invited us over for dinner." "He did?" I said, raising an eyebrow. "Does Dad know?" Mom hesitated momentarily before answering, a nervous smile on her face. "He does, but sadly, he won't be able to make it." I nodded, understanding the underlying tension.
