The ray of sunlight penetrated into the room as Nyssa squinted her eyes trying to block the ray of light with her hands. Her lashes fluttered as she opened her eyes grudgingly, and she furrowed her brow in confusion as she stared at the chandelier above her head.
"Where am I ?" She muttered as she shook her head clearing the drowsiness. She turned towards the window, still, and saw Caleb leaning on it, with arms folded as he stared at her.
"Ahhh," she screamed in fear as she felt her heart beating. She held the duvet closely around her chest as she sat up." Who...who are you?" She asked with wide eyes. She tried standing up, but a wave of pain rushed through her body as her lower region stung.
Caleb smirked as he tucked his hand into his pant pocket, his long hair styled, and he was putting on a black suit. "Half awake or fully awake?" He asked as he walked meticulously towards her while she slowly moved backwards on the bed, her heart beating.
"Ca...Caleb..." She stuttered as she stared at him with wide eyes. She looked down on the duvet and saw a blood stain, her blood. She felt a lump in her throat. What happened? She just gave her virginity to the infamous Caleb. Is it something she should be happy about? She tried moving but hissed in pain.
"You weren't like this last night, Bambi," Caleb said, holding her jaw with his finger.
"I'm...um...sorry.." she stuttered. What the hell was wrong with her? Being a fierce and ambitious young lady, she has never felt the way she felt for the first time in her 23 years, she felt suffocated with just his gaze.
" Sorry about what?" He asked in amusement as he stared at her brown eyes.
"Grrr," the sound of her telephone rang, and she hastily picked it up from the bedside stand while Caleb let go of her.
"H...hello" she stuttered as she answered the call.
"Where are you?... Have you forgotten you need to submit a painting today?" A harsh female voice replied at the other end of the phone.
"I...I..will"
She was interrupted as Caleb collected the phone." She is busy," he said, hanging up the phone.
"Why would you do that?" Nyssa screamed as she rushed towards him to grab her phone from his hand. Caleb grabbed her on her waist, pulling her closer to him as she gasped in surprise. His hand touched her bare back as her chest hit his body.
"Wh..what..are you doing?" She muttered inaudibly as her face flushed red in embarrassment.
"Want to continue from where we stopped?" Caleb replied as Nyssa felt his hot breath on her face.
"You...you" the words choked as she felt speechless by his shamelessness. She wriggled her body away from him, covering herself with the duvet, as laughter erupted through his lips, making her more embarrassed.
"Your name," he asked
"Nyssa Vance," she replied, clutching the duvet tightly around her body.
"Go get changed, Bambi....we are leaving," he said as he sat on the edge of the bed.
"We?" She asked and he raised his eyebrows, "um...I mean I don't have clothes to wear," she said, avoiding his gaze.
"There," he pointed towards the sofa," change into that," he concluded.
Nyssa moved towards the sofa with the duvet wrapped around her body limping. She carried the box and headed towards the bathroom without opening it.
She came out after 10 minutes dressed in a slitted blue turtle neck gown covering the mark, her hair cascading down to her waistline bringing out her perfect shape.
"C...can we go?" She asked as she shifted uncomfortably under his gaze.
"Sure," he replied, standing up, tearing his gaze off her. They both left the room as Nyssa trailed behind him. As they passed through the corridor, her gaze diverted to a bracelet lying on the floor beside the wall. She quickly went to the side and picked it up. Her memories went back to how she got to the suit in the first place.
Silas, who is now her ex-boyfriend, brought her to the award night show to make her connect with the world of the elites, but she caught him cheating on her with her best friend, Browyn. In an attempt to drink away her sorrow, she got drunk and used Silas' vip card to enter the suite landing on the suite where Caleb is.
She clenches her fist as her chest squeezes in pain. Her eyes shimmered with tears. "Silas" she muttered, her eyes red as her chest heaved in fury.
Caleb, feeling a pang in his chest, turned. He raised his brows as he saw Nyssa standing beside the wall, her hands clenched in a fist as her eyes were filled with unshed tears.
He moved closer to her and held her chin. "What is wrong with you, Bambi?" he asked as his brow creased.
"I am fine" she replied as she took his hand off her face. She made to leave, but Caleb pulled her back, closing the distance between them.
"Whenever I ask you a question, you need to reply to me, Bambi...I don't take silence as an answer" his voice was a low growl as his eyes bore into her.
Nyssa felt her hair standing up as she felt a lump in her throat and she shuddered in fear.
"I... am sorry," she whispered almost inaudibly, and Caleb let go of her chin.
"Now answer my question," he said, curious to know what made her sad.
"This bracelet made me reminisce about my ex-boyfriend," she answered, her voice hoarse.
Caleb held her shoulder. "You are not allowed to think of another man while I am here," he said as a pang of jealousy hit him. He couldn't believe his mate was thinking about another man. He would make sure to crush whoever this person was.
"I am sorry for making you worry....But I would like it if everything that happened between us ended here," she said, taking a step back. She couldn't understand why he would take an interest in her, a nobody, when he has countless women trying to curry favour with him, hoping to gain his attention. Moreover, she doesn't want any relationship because her heart is still broken over Silas' betrayal.
Caleb felt a pang in his chest as he watched his mate keeping a distance from him. He decided not to rush her because he felt it was bizarre to rush her, but he knew he would soon have her without coercion.
"Hmmm," he replied and left, his brow creased as he tried to control his burning desire to grab her.
Nyssa's eyes flickered as she couldn't understand why she felt a pang in her chest, but she waved it off and left.
