Chapter 9: Ex Girlfriend Welcoming Comittee

1013 Words
POV: Lyra The drive was indeed short, as both Damien and Aiden had assured me. I was positive that if I had paid any attention to the studying of pack relationships, I would have known about this. I cursed myself silently for not taking it more seriously. The ride, as short as it was, felt awkward. I wondered if it was because Aiden walked in on Damien and I having a moment. This is what was happening, right? I couldn't help but feel butterflies as I touched his hand and we made eye contact. I knew it was wrong, and I did feel guilty about that. I couldn't help wanting to ask Damien if he felt anything too. I knew that I was his Luna though and it would put him in an awful uncomfortable position. I didn't dare to put him in. So we all sat in silence the entire short car ride. When we pulled up to a house, I raised my eyebrows in confusion. This couldn't seriously be their packhouse, could it? It looked like a regular home that an Omega in my pack would live in. Of course, I had grown up in a mansion and Aiden had warned me that his pack was considerably smaller than mine, but I still was not expecting this. I was so distracted by the small size of the house I nearly missed the group of girls coming out of the house. There were about a half dozen of them, they were led by a tall girl with blonde hair. I could only assume they were coming out to greet me as their Luna and try to make a good impression with me. I put a smile on my face reading myself to greet them when I heard Aiden's voice from the drivers seat. "Oh shit." I looked over to him and he looked angry? I was confused looking back at the group of girls for the first time, really looking at them. They too looked angry. Oh no, what had I gotten myself into? I turned so I could see Damien's face and he looked worried. I didn't wait for Aiden to come around before I got out of the car. I hopped out and could see the girls making their way over to us. The leader of the group looked at me with venom in her chocolate-brown eyes. I kept my head high and my shoulders back. Whether or not these girls liked me, I was their Luna. I knew this. I may not be official and have no power to command them, but I was still mated to their Alpha. Aiden made his way over to my side, quickly slipping his arm around my waist. When the blonde girl saw this, her eyes nearly bulged from her head and her frown turned into a snarl. The rest of the girls looked pissed, but not nearly as much as the one in the front. "Go home." I heard Aiden's voice boom in his alpha tone. The ones behind the blonde immediately shrunk back but all shot looks at her. Directing his focus straight on her, he made contact with the tall blonde. "Callie, I said go home. I will deal with you later." She looked like she wanted to say something but Aiden added "NOW." In his Alpha tone and she had no choice but to submit, she threw another nasty look towards me before her and her band of girls scurried off. "I'm sorry about that." Aiden turned to me, pulling me to him to sniff my hair, probably to calm himself down. I pushed against him. "Who were those girls?" I asked, shooting looks at him and Damien. Aiden didn't make a move, as if he was thinking about how to respond, and Damien immediately cast his eyes at the ground. "I take it from the anger the blonde. You said her name was Callie? Is your girlfriend?" He looked panicked. "No she's not anymore, and she never really was. We were kind of just..." he stopped talking so I finished the sentence for him. "f*****g?" He looked at the ground ashamed. "Don't be ashamed of having a life before you found me. I take it when you did. You told her. That's why her and her entourage are so angry?" He nodded slowly but I could tell from the way he did there was more to the story. "The rest looked pretty angry too, too angry to just be mad for their friend." I wanted him to admit to me what I already suspected. "Uh yeah." Is all he said. "So also your not exactly ex's?" I asked Damein awkwardly cleared this throat and Aiden waved him off. He eagerly took off running. Something told me he did not want to be here for this line of questioning. Aiden turned to me. "Yes, we all have a history." I swallowed, one crazy ex I could wrap my head around. I had never dated exactly, but that thing with Eric was close enough. Half a dozen ex's? In this small of a pack? "Is there any unmated females in this pack you haven't slept with?" I could see from the guilt in his eyes the answer, but there seemed to be more. "You didn't sleep with mated shifters too?" I acused. He looked like he wanted to shrink into nothing. This was all a bit much to be learning about my mate all at once. Part of me wanted to scream at him for being so careless, part of me wanted to cry, and another part of me wanted to reject him right on the spot. "I need some time to think about this. Lets go inside." He nodded not saying anything, just grabbing my suitcase and box from the car and leading me into the house. Suddenly some comments he had made I never understood started to click. I tried not to think about Callie. I wanted to see my new home before I made any rash decisions.
