Nathan explained the situation briefly to me. It seemed like Nathan wasn’t sure why his grandfather had fainted. The call had ended too fast. However, his grandfather was apparently strong enough to be transferred to a hospital in the city, and his brother was going with Neil. He was the one who had called, which actually surprised me, considering their strained relationship.
“I need to go,” he stated and moved away from the table. But as I tried to get up, he turned to me again and placed both his hands on each side of my neck. “Please be here when I get back.”
“Here? I am going with you!” I insisted.
He looked at me, first shocked that I was even willing to go, but then a smile spread on his lips. A real, genuine one.
“Okay,” he replied before he helped me stand.
