June 27, 2007: Time Unknown
When I come to, I glance down to the end of the trailer, and through the darkness I can see flecks of light roll over Jenna’s hair and pale skin as the truck moves. I try to capture her gaze, but her eyes are closed and I think maybe she’s unconscious. I want to yell out to her, but it’s dark and I don’t know if the men with guns are in the back of the trailer with us or not.
Only hours ago, we were free. This happened so fast and I am trying to understand where we misstepped. What mistake did I make landing us in such danger? I just wanted us to get to a place where we could explore, see the beautiful landscapes of Thailand, and take in the sites and culture. I am groggy, and I let my eyes close again as I replay the events of the day and
