"Run, little wolf," a taunting voice calls after her. "Run as fast as you can."
She glances over her shoulder with a sense of relief. Her child is hidden and safe. It doesn't matter what he does to her. He will never get his hands on their daughter. Lillian gave her word.
She trudges through the snow, knowing she is leaving a trail of blood behind her. But she knows it doesn't matter. Ares will stop at nothing to find her.
Squeezing herself into a hollowed tree, she prays that the falling snow will cover her tracks. Closing her eyes, she takes a moment to breathe.
Life wasn't always this way. She and Ares had been happy once. So happy she chose not to return back to her home pack once she met him. They lived in a modest house on the outskirts of the Opal Pack.
