Elara POV Lillian passed with Phoenix in her arms. It was like he knew exactly what she needed. I could tell by the way his golden eyes were glowing that he was reading her mind. Occasionally, he would speak out loud to her as if he were answering an unspoken question. He was brave as her breathing slowed and eventually stopped. "I can't hear her anymore," he sighed. "She is gone," I whispered to him quietly. "Oh," he replied as he climbed out of the bed. He left behind a huge wet spot on her chest where his little head was lying. He disappeared into the clubhouse and locked the door behind him. It has been hours since he locked himself in the room, and I am sitting on the floor outside the door, trying to persuade him to let me inside. "Phoenix," I call through the door.
