Chapter 18 : The Invitation

629 Words
Spring arrived softly in Milan. The streets were brighter, cafés filled with laughter, and the fashion district buzzed with excitement as preparations for the upcoming show in Paris reached their peak. Inside the company headquarters, the atmosphere was just as intense. Designers rushed between studios carrying sketches and fabrics, assistants organized schedules, and executives finalized deals that would shape the brand’s future. And in the middle of it all, she had found her place. She was no longer just observing meetings—she was participating in them. Her ideas were being considered. Sometimes even followed. One afternoon, while reviewing campaign plans with the marketing team, she paused at a photo on the presentation screen. It showed a model walking confidently down a runway. Elegant. Perfect. But distant. “Something’s missing,” she said quietly. The marketing director looked up. “What do you mean?” “The story,” she replied. The room waited. “Fashion isn’t just about clothes. It’s about people. Emotions. Moments that make someone feel confident or brave.” She pointed gently at the screen. “Our campaigns should show that.” The team exchanged thoughtful glances. “We could introduce a documentary-style series,” someone suggested. “Following the designers and the preparation for the show.” Her eyes lit up. “Yes,” she said. “Let people see the heart behind the brand.” Later that evening, her father called her into his office. “You’ve made quite an impression these past few months,” he said calmly. “I’m still learning,” she replied. “That’s exactly why people respect you,” he answered. She sat quietly for a moment before speaking again. “I’ve been thinking about something.” “Go on.” She hesitated only slightly. “I want to invite someone to the Paris show.” Her father raised an eyebrow. “Someone important to you?” “Yes.” He leaned back in his chair, studying her expression. “The young man,” he guessed. She nodded. There was a brief silence. Then her father surprised her. “If he matters to you, he should see the world you’re building.” Her heart lifted. “Really?” “Yes,” he said simply. “But understand this—our world can be overwhelming.” “He’s stronger than people think,” she replied. That night, she called him. When he answered, he looked curious. “You sound excited,” he said. “I have a question for you,” she replied. “Okay…” “How would you feel about visiting Paris?” His eyes widened slightly. “Paris?” “Yes. For my mother’s fashion show.” For a moment, he didn’t speak. Then a slow smile spread across his face. “You’re inviting me into the lion’s den?” She laughed softly. “Something like that.” “And you’re sure about this?” “I am,” she said gently. “Because you’re part of my life. And I don’t want to keep my worlds separate anymore.” He looked at her through the screen, pride and affection shining in his eyes. “Then I guess I’m going to Paris.” After the call ended, she stood on her hotel balcony, watching the city lights shimmer across Milan. The distance between them had once felt like a barrier. But now, she was beginning to build bridges. Soon, he would step into her world again. Only this time— It wouldn’t be hidden cafés or quiet dinners. It would be under the bright lights of fashion, power, and international attention. And she knew one thing for certain. The next chapter of their story was about to become much bigger than either of them had imagined.
