Chapter 4- Ant Between Elephants

VIELLA'S POV Eyes! That's what welcomed me the moment I walked through the walls of Black Haven College, going to the cafeteria. I squinted my eyes as my brain tried to understand what happened that garnered me such stares. “Vi…OMG, when did you resume?” Keisha asked, as she sighted me at the lunch table. Her bag slung over her shoulder, as Malcox trailed behind. He was always where she was. Always. And surprisingly she didn't seem to bother. “Oh, resumed on Monday, yeah. But, girl, you're looking dashing. Seemed this holiday was good to you” I shrieked, as I playfully wiggled my shoulders, while poking hers. She laughed, and walked beside me as we headed to an empty table. Three girls passed by our table, and although they all whispered with their eyes on me, one girl particularly shot me a death glare. “Who is she?” I asked, as I turned to look at Keisha. Her eyes moved to Malcox who whispered something to her, and left. “Uh, name or…” “Whaaat?!” She cleared her throat and nodded her head, while picking up her burger. “Her name is Esmeralda. Esmeralda Rivera” I nodded, as my mind wondered why this girl looked at me like I f****d her boyfriend and did a s*x tape. Eerie air washed through my skin, and shivers ran down my spine. What was this feeling? Dread! I swallowed lumpily as the feeling matched that of the bonfire night, matched that of Kaelen. I slowly turned my head to the door but I didn't see him or the Ruka guy from that night, and cold sweat ran down my forehead. “What's wrong, Vi?” I turned to look at Keisha as her eyes scanned me, like she was looking for something. I furrowed my eyebrows, turned back to the door, and slowly shook my head.. “Nothing. Just felt…” Shouts of students filled the air, and some rushed to the direction of the door, prompting I and Keisha to look in that direction. And there they were, the guys from that night. I only knew Ruka’s name because Kaelen called it that night, but I made no mistake in forgetting any of their faces. They were all present. Intimidating aura, unbending presence. They were just like Kaelen, but his aura was stronger, much more intimidating in a way. “Uh, Keisha, I'll see you later, yeah?” I speed-packed my lunch into a paper bag, and headed to the back door of the cafeteria, but a group of guys stopped me… My breath hitched in my throat as their eyes were mixtures of shinning red and gold. I stepped back one foot, they came closer three feet. “Oh-oh…we see the human now. I have to commend Kaelen for his taste” A low growl emanated from the guy in front of the crowd and it was no quest to know he was the leader. I stepped back three more feet, but they closed the gap, and soon the guy was standing in front of me. Bright golden hair, dim red eyes, sun kissed skin, the man curved his knees a little to meet my eye level. “What’s the name, sweetheart?” “None of your business, Ian” I froze. A statue would have more motility than me in this particular moment. No intake of breath, no processing of anything. Kaelen. “Oh, the man of the hour is here. Good for you to join, Kaelen” Ian taunted, his eyes never leaving me. “Step. Back. Now!” Kaelan’s voice echoed from behind me and off the walls of the cafeteria. From my peripheral, I saw Jalyc, standing and shivering, his eyes burning in disgust and fear. Low, unamused laughter erupted from Ian, and abruptly he stopped. His gaze moved behind me, but I still didn't move. No sign of life. “Take her” My eyes widened, but before I was granted processing time, I was thrown to Ian's pack. A bluedyed hair lady held me by my throat, and squeezed.. “Kaylin, you know better than to touch her, don't you?” This question from Kaelen only seemed to annoy my assaulter the more, as she squeezed tighter, tears rolling down my eyes.. “Oh, Kaelan. This is my pack. You hold no power over them. And your pack…tsk, tsk, tsk, I sense resistance” I fought against the woman's string grip, and as oxygen slowly evaded my lungs, anger filled my vein. “You do not..” I took in deep, short breaths. “Get to hold me near death, for something I'm not aware of” I gritted breathlessly, and I could feel the anger getting to my eyes as I glared at the lady in front of me. I didn't know who the f**k the Kaelan guy was, and who the f**k these people were. So why? Why must I be the one that has to pay some price? I launched my teeth into the woman arms, and as loud shrill scream left her lips, she released me. I held my neck with trembling hands, as I took in deep breaths, gasping. “Don't you f*****g touch me again!” I turned to Ian and Kaelan who had a proud smirk on his face, and my anger only increased. “Kaelen, right?” I gulped heavily once I stood in front of him. I felt the air get thicker, and that aura nearly suffocated me. “Yes?” I blinked. Slow, refined, and sensual. f**k, who exactly was this guy? “Look, I don't know what the hell is going on, but I want to finish this school in peace. So please, tell your guys to stay the f**k away from me” I pursed my lips, as I glared at him. Kaelan's lips raised in amusement, as his eyes stayed on mine, glancing and studying my features in-between. “Do you want them dead?” He asked after seconds of silence, his voice firm and suggestive. I looked behind him, and then at Ian's pack, particularly at the lady who had me in chokehold. I mean, I'm livid, but I knew my soul wouldn't handle blood on my name. “No. Just tell them to stay the f**k away from me” I nodded, and nudged past him, and I heard him take an audible inhale, as I moved past him. I only gave him a weird look with the side of my eyes, and moved. Two feet away from him, and he grabbed my hand, causing me to turn my head to him. His eyes fixated ahead, but I could see his jaw clenching. “As you wish” I stared between him and Ruka for a brief second, as he released my hand. Not having anything else to say, I walked away. The remaining hours of the afternoon rolled by and I obsessively watched my clock. Immediately it was five in the evening, I began to head to my apartment. The night came by faster than I imagined, and I locked my door and window. Soon, moonlight leaked into my room. I walked to my window, looked up to the sky and my lips fell open. “The full moon”
