HSC: Chapter 3

Jeremey’s POV

Devin had been in the house for a long time. I decided that I was going to get out of the car and stretch my legs. I walked to the end of the drive. This property was immaculate. The way the grass was trimmed, it lined up perfectly. No wonder we have our own landscaping company as part of Grape Industries. Devin was a self-made billionaire as for me I do well enough. I’m a millionaire hopefully my next few investments work out in my favor. I will then be apart of the billionaire club.

I had, had enough of stretching my legs and headed back to the car. I had just got settled when I received a mind-link from Devin telling me to get into the back seat. I hopped out of the front and glanced in the Alpha’s direction. He was walking out with a beautiful young woman. She was not at all who I thought would be inside of the house.

“Jeremey, this is Remy. Do not do anything to make her feel uncomfortable.” Devin said through mind-link.

Alpha Devin was acting strangely why did he suddenly care about how a random woman would feel. Jeremey sat back and watched as his strong, tough as nails, Alpha turned into a love sick puppy.

“So, I take it this woman is going to be the new Luna?” I mind-linked back.

“What makes you think that?” Devin responded.

“She’s your mate right? That’s why you are showing her so much care right now. We passed the route to the pack house, so I know we are on the way to the pack hospital. What I cannot understand is why she would show up now if all the other times she could’ve shown up.” I said back.

There was silence on the Alpha’s end. The tension between us grew thick. Within twenty minutes we had arrived at the pack hospital. Devin got out first. He walked around and opened the door for Remy. I just sat there watching. I had never seen. Y best friend be, so, awestruck before. The way he moved was so full of grace and elegance. It was amazing to see. After Devin and Remy got out, I got out as well. I am the packs Beta. It is my responsibility to make sure that the Alpha and Luna are always protected.

Remy’s POV

When we walked out of the house there was a man waiting for Devin. Devin shifted a little and his eyes kinda glossed over, kinda like he was in deep thought. After his eyes cleared the other man hopped out of the front seat, leaving the door open for me, and slid into the back seat. The man looked rather handsome not as handsome as Devin though.

“My Goddess! Remy are you already falling for Devin? What happened to all your hesitation?” Rainn smirk.

“Rainn, why do you have to antagonize me? I am with him because you said we could trust him with our lives. Otherwise, I would’ve stayed in that comfortable house.” Remy retorted.

I know he is a good man. He is also a strong Alpha. We have an attachment to him and will be saf from the storms that are coming from us being abducted. I hope that the doctors are gentle. I truly don’t wish to even go to one. Devin just seemed so instant on my going.

We traveled for what felt like a long while. The tension in the car could’ve been cut with a knife. I wish Devin would’ve just let his friend stay in the front seat. I can feel his eyes burning holes into the back of my head. I keep wishing we’d make it to the hospital soon. I was tired of being in the car. As, I looked out the window, we passed by beautiful wide -open spaces. The Midwest really does have its own type of beauty. The fields looked like the went on forever, only touched and matched by the bluest of skies. I hadn’t seen any houses that looked different from the one I was found in. I began to wonder if all of this was his pack territory.

Devin’s POV

We arrived at the pack hospital. I helped Remy out of the truck. Then we made a bee-line for the front door. We walked up to the check in nurse.

“Hello Alpha,” The nurse, Macie, said. “ what are you being seen for today?” Her face flush with l**t.

“Yes, Macie, my ma-uh-acquaintance needs to been seen for a physical.” I stammered as a pulled Remy up closer to the desk.

“Oh, okay. Let me see if Dr. Lee is available.” Macie said looking very disappointed that the Alpha was with another girl. One who looked unworthy of being that close to him. She continues to scroll on the computer looking for the soonest appointment time. “Looks like she has an opening at 2:30pm. Will that work Alpha? Who’s name should I put it under?”

“Yes that will work. The name you can put it under is Remy Taylor.” I answer so confidently. Gently squeezing Remy’s shoulder with a faint smile on my lips. I look down at her and say “ since it’s going to be about thirty minutes until your appointment how about we go and look around the gift shop?”
