The dinner party was already a swirling storm of emotions, and Emily felt caught in the eye of it. “What the heck do you think you're doing?” Derek’s anger was like a smoldering fire, barely contained, while Matt’s frustration radiated in waves. Emily stood between the two, her heart pounding with a mix of anxiety and guilt.
