The driver there was a usual one. Emily was supposed to feel great, she was rubbing it in his face that someone took her as a priority as opposed to Matt who played her for a fool. But she did not. Her stomach churned loudly and at every turn of her wheel, she felt the need to reverse the car and go back home. The door squeaked gently as Emily entered their usual restaurant late at night. The dim lighting and the faint murmur of conversations felt familiar, yet tonight, everything seemed different. Her inner conflict over whether she should meet Matt like he had asked was finally resolved, and here she was. Not because he had asked her (she managed to lie to herself), but because she wanted to see him face to face. She needed to witness the pain he would feel knowing he was losing her
