The next two months were... unexpected. Emily had never thought she’d have anything resembling a friendship with Derek Langston, not after the disastrous start they had. But there they were—working together on the new project for his vineyard, exchanging ideas and even sharing the occasional laugh. She supposed “slow friends” was an apt description. Their first coffee date wasn’t planned. They’d both been exhausted after back-to-back meetings and decided to duck into a small cafe near the office.
