Matt stood in the corridor outside Sam’s office, his shoulders tense but his face unreadable. The stern warning Sam had delivered still echoed in his mind. He nodded, offered yet another apology, and left without protest. Tomorrow, he would begin anew, but for now, he needed to sort things out at his own company. The elevator ride down was a blur, the muted chatter of passing employees falling away as Matt focused on keeping his temper in check.
