“Emily,” you need to calm down. Matt stepped forward, bridging the space between them.
Emily was anything but calm. Her hands shook, her shoulder vibrated, her color drained so quickly. It looked like she had seen a ghost.
“Matt, did I lose my memories?”
Matt wanted to tell her something else. The file wasn't hers, she hadn't seen clearly, maybe she was even hallucinating. Anything at all so she could calm down but it didn't seem to work. At the end of the day, his suspended silence only succeeded in making her more agitated.
“Emily. Emily, listen to me please, I'm going to need you to calm down. It's not serious. It's really not that serious, please Emily, take a deep breath.”
Her breathing had slowed, taking one deep inhale at a time but it did nothing to calm her down.
