“When we left Earth as flesh-and-blood Oort, we chose to settle on an Earth-like planet we had discovered earlier orbiting around Keid-A. The planet was friendly, and we grew and prospered. Eventually, we were a planet-wide civilization, happy with our choice to leave the Solar System. As spacefaring people, we explored the nearer stars. We found no nearby sapient species, although it was clear that life on Arcan was headed that way.
