Phoenix Starship AndromedaThe microbot control system—MCS they called it—consisted of line-of-sight transmission dishes scattered around both domed surfaces of Andromeda that provided 100 percent coverage of the space surrounding the starship, and an operator interface on the Bridge. Mother did the actual pointing of the dishes under the direction of whoever had the Bridge watch. The system provided 90 percent protection from microbots. The remaining 10 percent worried Thorpe. He expressed this worry in a conversation with Sally and Brad.
