Keid-C SpaceThe Oort watched chaos engulfing the sphere. All their attempts to correct the instabilities came to naught. As Keid-C’s heat output increased dramatically, the Oort boosted the fluid flow in the tubes and rotation of the sphere to eighty-four kilometers a second. The consequences for the equatorial band were catastrophic. When Keid-C finally belched out the superflare, the Oort realized the game was over. They pulled themselves into their reinforced vault and severed all outside links.
When the I-beam infrastructure fractured and large pieces headed in every direction, the reinforced vault broke loose from its confinement without sustaining significant damage, on a path toward the constellation Eridanus, as seen from Earth.
